Range Rover Vogue TDV6 65 Reg

I bought this car in Feb 2019 from a reputable dealer as the car ticked all the boxes and I have had no issues at all.. it has full dealer history which is why I bought it and I booked it in for a service as it flashed up that it was required .. I drove the car to the dealership with no issues and left it with them to carry out a major service as it was required. I then receive a call from the dealer saying they have found an issue with the engine and it needs to be replaced at a cost of over £15000.00, to say I was shocked was an understatement.. they then proceeded to tell me that they would send a claim off to LR customer experience and we should have a positive outcome.. the dealer has called me today saying that LR customer experience has declined to help at all due to the car being supplied to me by a non franchise dealer.. baring in mind the car is not yet 4 years old and has full dealer service history.. it has been well looked after and is now useless to me.. I can safely say my LR customer experience has been extremely poor on this occasion.. I have owned many LR products and have never been treated like this... Any advice or similar incidents on the L405 version??

Sorry to hear of your issue. If it's the same TDV6 as fitted to the Discovery 3/4, then it's getting a reputation for crankshaft failures.

Most D3/4 end up with a second hand replacement, normally from a Jaguar S type, as the price of the Jag is low, compared to LR new prices.

Unfortunately it’s far from being unheard of in this engine, normally as a result of spun bearings, followed by bearing oil starvation and the crank shaft snapping. Unusual that it was picked up at a service, when this is usually a, next to no warning, total failure. Did you get any further with this in the end?

As the car came from a “reputable dealer”, did they provide a worthwhile warranty with it?
