disco 2 OBD HELP

hello,
ive got myself a autel autolink AL619 to plug into the disco 2 td5, 03 plate. i can talk to ABS and AIRBAG systems but dont seem to be able to talk to the engine ECU????
ive found a couple of videos on youtube etc that show people using this tester on the td5 and the menu on the system itself shows discovery in my year range.
has anyone got this system and had any luck or problems?
any help will be great fully received

Where does RAVE state that the Td5 EMS is OBD2/EOBD ?, i must have missed that ... maybe the V8 , on some generic OBD2 scantools is mentioned Discovery 2 but not mentioned that only the V8... and even that is a bit exagerated as the LR EMS protocol for the D2 V8 is not 100% similar with OBD2 hence the different code descriptions
 
Yours, being 2003, did not have to be OBD compliant till the following year, so it may or may not be or may be only in part. See below.

Scanners/diagnostic for dedicated models and years of vehicles are the only way to be certain of getting what you want, despite what lots of people try to tell you.

the blurb on their site states quite clearly that it does what you said and "OBD ll" which your vehicle is not.

i spoke to a company today who told me the ICARSOFT LR V2.0 will connect to disco td5?
ive ordered one to give it a go, fingers crossed, anyone else tryed this system with any luck?

You should have asked first those who dont want to make profit on you before relying on those who want.... YES, i've tried the Icarsoft V2.0 and all the other versions myself and when it comes to the Td5 EMS(engine management system) it's full of sh*t... the rest works OK, i think i've already made this warning some time ago :rolleyes:

I’ve mentioned over a dozen times on this forum that I had iCarsoft’s CR Plus that does a different models of cars and trucks. I found it to be quirky and not too responsive when using it on my V8 Disco 2.
I sold it after a month and bought a Foxwell NT-510 (now NT-520 & NT-530) diagnostic tester.

I hope the v2 has been updated and works out for you tho...
 
i will let you know, it has TD5 on the menu in 2001-2004 year range, if it dont work its going straight back, REFUND
 
It communicates with it but it will misslead you with truncated data or false fault codes, i doube checkd with hawkeye which is 100% relaible as it's on the LR testbook protocol and got different results.... my advice is to get a refund and buy a Foxwell for not much more money

Well. Its here and I'm very happy with it. Connected straight away to ABS SRS and TD5 ecm.
Does what I need it for and only £135. No complaints.
 
It seems you dont believe me then... good luck with it, no worries, you'll spend money on sensors in vain or not spend when it's necessary... for ABS and SRS where it works you could have bought a much cheaper one

My mate got one for his L322. It works ok on my td5 disco but doesn't do even half of what a nanocom does.
There again, it's less than a third of the price of a nanocom...

I know it wworks but how do you know it works OK? did you double check it with a known reliable tester? ...as i said i double checked it with hawkeye and the results were different while hawkeye is 100% reliable... i cranked mine with unplugged injector loom and the Icarsoft didnt even see the open circuits and reported peak charge long + ambient pressure and manifold pressure faults which were not real... the rpm, TPS and air flow readings were also erratic while it didnt report the pressure at all.... to each his own, i gave it to a friend with freelander cos it works OK on that one

Well it threw up known faults, (from a nanocom) and identified which ABS sensor is knackered (i know which one and why)
However, I didn't buy it and wouldn't buy one. Even if it does work ok, it doesn't do enough for the td5 to justify £130.
