Hi all,
Just been wiring in some LED roof lights.
I got a premade wiring loom as well because it had the relay and switch, fuse etc all in and was cheaper than making it up myself. Plus it was meant to be ;plug and play fitting' which it kind of is...:):):)
All wired in ok, but when its connected to the battery 'as per diagram', there is a little red light that's always 'on', on the main control switch you fix in the cab.
Is it likely that this will run my battery dead over night, as it appears to be a constant live, despite already passing through the relay.
All the lights etc work fine. I was wondering how other peeps have got around this, or even if I really do need to find a live power source that only becomes live when the ignition is switched on.
I'm not a whiz at electrics or able to read the RAVE wiring diagrams very well, despite trying.... o_Oo_O:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I'm sure many of you would be familiar with these set ups, hence seeking your expertise.
Below is a picture of the wiring loom and also the 2 lights I have connected it too.
One other slightly different question, where do most people take a constant live feed from the battery and get it into the cab so I can add another fuse box inside for any auxiliaries ext.…. my main wiring harness (original one fitted at the factory, when the beast was built I guess) has gone quite brittle and there's no chance of squeezing another wire through it from engine bay to cab.
I don't want to drill another hole through in case I drill into a internal wiring loom (there seems to be miles of the stuff under the dash and footwell),,
Looking for some inspiration please, ideally before I get a possible dead flat battery in the morning...
Thanks in advance...
Best site for getting advice ever and so far, all my questions previously had some great answers and I was able to solve them shortly afterwards... cheers chaps..... Greg :):):)

Do they say anywhere to connect the positive directly to the battery? ... if it's so it's wrong IMO, that positive should be connected to ignition live then your problem is solved

@sierrafery @discool
Thanks for your replies. Yes, it does say connect to the battery and in fact, the harness only seems to be made to do this, but I think I may still go for putting the +ive onto a ignition feed at a later time when its not raining....:mad::mad::mad:
However, on a plus note, the old girl turned over fine this afternoon, so that little red LED cant have much drain at all (but we're not into the cold winter yet when the batteries arnt so good lol).
One other good thing I have thought about with the red light on, it does look like a alarm fitting / light at night.
I have to say though, the lights are good and I have only put 2 on, so it must be light mega daylight when you see other discos with 6 on the o_Oo_O
