Freelander 2 (LR2) Boot, Tailgate acting a bit odd re locking. unlocking.

Hi fellow Freelander 2 owners.
Had a look around the previous posts but can't find my specific problem.
Tailgate, Boot door was not opening when our girt got back from shopping. So I have had a look at it, here is what I have found.
Tailgate does not open on pressing the open all doors button on the fob, yes I have pressed it twice.
There is no clunk if you listen to the lock when pressing the button.
If you press the tailgate button, you get the clunk and the door opens as it should.
Question, why should it not work with one button, but work with the other button. I have tried the spare fob, the problem is just the same whichever fob is used.
Any one had the same problem.
Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Has the switch failed in the tailgate?

Press and hold lock and unlock button on dash after unlocking car with remote and see if tailgate opens

Turned out to be the micro switch jobby in the tailgate handle. Genuine LR replacement with the new bulb holders and bulbs for the number plate, £30. Less than 1 hr from start to finish to replace them. I wonder if this is the second time it has been done as after removing the door card it was plain to see that someone had been inside before.
