Sorry i meant in regards to re-sale value they could be removed . But i will inform the insurance

They have no resale value. Light bars are a very personal thing. Alloys can help, because they look good.

Yeah real bling, leather seats, aircon, carpet, panoramic windows. Light bars only narrow down tour customer base, because unless you do night time off roading, they are pointless.

No light bar , A -bar with a pair of spots . Very handy round here with country lanes .

No cat or EGR from the factory , so other than the leather wheel , spots , side bars and boost alloys its stock , And how i want it to be . Cant do with light bars lift kits etc .

I live in the country. Never needed any other lights other than the upgraded standard lights. Also, using light bars on the public highway is illiegal.

Maybe my eyes are older than yours , So a pair of bumper spots I'm happy with on some very tight lanes .

Which you will do, as they cannot be correctly directed as per vehicle lighting regulations.

A vehicles main beams will dazzle other road users, so need to be switched off manually, or automatically. An LED light bar is no different. It comes under the auxiliary lighting regulations, so must be switched on and off manually.

I've just taken this from an internet search. "DfT advised GEM that, as LEDs are not mentioned in the UK regulations, this means that they are not permitted, unless they comply with European legislation, which they cannot. The DfT also advises that:
“There are also requirements for minimum power for certain lamps… LEDs… would be unlikely to meet these requirements.”

(Information correct as of January 2017)

Never had a problem with mine, and it's been through 3 MOTs with them fitted. For off road use LED light bars are brilliant.

They're fine for MOT as you are allowed to have equipment fitted for off road use. You are not allowed to connect them to your head lights and you are not allowed to use them on road. But unless you do night time off roading, they are pointless, as its illiegal to use them on the road.

This may or may bot be good advice, but I personally wouldn't declare free style or boost alloys as mods, they have landrover stamps/logos on. I run freestyles and hadn't even thought that could be a mod!

My brother wrote off a disco 2 and that was weari g ridiculous offset modulars (probably the reason for the crash) and he smashed a telegraph pole in two, but didn't hit any other vehicle, they just paid out, and he received 1500 quid more than he bought it for.
I'm not saying that's the norm but landrover branded wheels, I mean, I have no clue as to what muline left the factory with... Td5 defenders had freestyle alloys and some had steelies....

Mine was hooked up to main beams, and it passed the MOTs just fine. So one can assume the MOT tester wasn't bothered, or didn't know the rules. I never had an issue using it, although I've now removed it to see the vehicle.

Let's face it MOTers have a habit of looking the other way. The police won't. Especially if you cause an accident while using them. Simple fact is, they are not legal to use on the road as they have not passed the stringent vehicle standards. Use them if you want, I've tried to give you a friendly warning.

Oh and this has come up on here before, and it was decided then that they are illegal to use in the road.

OK Update , my insurer wanted £400 "without" the front silencer removal pipe and swing away carrier , with those plus the
rock sliders , spots , A-bar , boost alloys , snorkel , classed as 7 seats , moto-lita s/wheel . Quote Came to £310 . a huge difference .

my original insurer wanted £50 extra just for a snorkel , so what extra they would want for a as its classed performance front pipe (silencer removal pipe) Who knows dread to think . So a massive difference .
This was with A-PLAN it is best to contact them at Thatcham branch if you can , as they deal with 4x4's with mods , i went to there branch local to me and they helped me to sort , i cant speak to well so unable to contact them direct .
