Hi!
My Discovery 2 won't move at all.
I was Driving and then suddenly it had a loss og power up a steep hill. Then i put the accelerator to the floor and the engine rpm went up but the var didn't any faster.
I almost came on top og the hill and i just had to stop beside the road, because all movement had stopped.

Thought it was det gearbox... It wasn't. Som noe i don't know what to do.
Changed oilfilter inn the gearbox
Flexplate is not broken.
No oil out of the oil pipes.
In park it locks the wheels so it doesn't move.

Do any of you know what could be wrong?

Main clutch pack has worn out.

New gearbox time.

Which oil pipes are you referring to? The ones to the oil cooler from the auto box? How many miles/km has it done? Has it had regular oil changes?

That was my amateur thought too, hence the question about the pipes. However, if so it still looks like a new box.....
If it is the torque converter, then he could just get new torque converter, I think. Not an expert but I have a feeling the pump for the TC is actually in it, but I think we both and the OP need someone else to confirm our thoughts!

What procedure did you follow regarding fluid changing?

Sounds like a low fluid situation to me.

Whats the level like, fluid colour?

You might not agree but here goes.
Although we all know the proper way to fill the gearbox, I think it will still function even if only filled to the filler hole level even when the gearbox is not turning.
But I absolutely do NOT recommend it.
Again, still awaiting futher advice, but then OP said he'd done the oil and filter change, I think we have to fall on the side of "he probly dun it proper".
"Being in Park, the wheels lock", I think this is mechanical and nothing to do with fluid, but again, I may be wrong about this too.
I try to stay away from knowing about the internal workings of any autobx, never mind electrickery ones!

Park works on a mechanical Pawl.

Common for the Hp22 to "burn out" so to speak, especially when it hasn't been maintained in its previous tenure.

But since OP doesn't reply i can't really get any more info

Sorry for a late answer!
Yes I was talking about thw oil pipes to the cooler.
It has done 240 000 km. I havnet hadde it som long, but previous owner had regularly oil changes.

It can be the oil pump, but is there any other way to confim it??
The oil level inn the oil sump is OK, dropping out og the filler/level plug.
Fluid color was a little darker than a new oil but not much.

Is "burn out" fixable? Or does it require a new gearbox?

If the oil that is dropping out of the GEARBOX oil sump, is dropping out with the engine turned off, then you do not have enough oil in the gearbox, it should be dropping out with the engine running and after having moved the gear change lever through all the gears, with a strong foot on the footbrake, holding in each gear for 3 seconds. It isn't like a manual gearbox oil level.
If you empty the oil out through the bottom plug, refill it as I have just described then drive the car for 150 kms or so then change it again, you will have a reasonable amount of clean oil in the gearbox, but if you cannot get the vehicle to drive this will be a problem.
It is said that just changing the oil can sometimes fix an auto box that is not working due to cleaning out the oilways with the new oil, so you could try just what I said but obviously you will not be able to drive the car until the gearbox frees off. The amount of KMs your truck has done is not exceptional, mine has done more on the original gearbox.

So to sum up.

No reverse?
No Drive?

I said "burnt out" coz i was lazy at the time. What has happened in my mind is failure/burnt out clutches in the forward & reverse sets,

Fairly common.

Gearbox rebuild time! ;)

Pumping no oil to the cooler could mean the oil pump lugs have sheared off happened to mine
also the oil from burnt out clutches is dark brown colour he doesn't say what the oil is like.

I think he said

and the fluid had been changed regularly.

Whatever the cause, it is probably a rebuild:(

The pump gear lugs can be seen from bell housing side doesn't mean a rebuild just yet
check it when the box is removed. Might be cheaper to buy another box & whip the pump gear out it.
Not a hard task even for a novice.

Tok the oilpump apart from the old gearbox, it seems like the inner gear is worn. I can't take it off from the shaft with the splines on.

Hi again!
Today i opened the second gearbox i hadde and found that the finner gear om this has tjue same problem, it's worn out so i turned it upside down, mounted it back together and installed it inn the disco.
Started it without the transferbox and the shaft out of the gearbox was turning around. Then i mounted the rest of the other parts and tried to move the car when it was all mounted but no luck.

Checked the oil level inn the sump it was full, even after i pulled it through all gears.

I took of the oilpipe from under the gearbox and there was no oil coming out. Is the oilpump broken already? Or is there lack of oil somewhere?

Are both lugs inside the gear in picture 1 above.. these fit inside the torque convertor which drives the pump also is the ring on the flywheel broken where it attaches to the torque convertor.
I take it you unbolted the ring firstly from the small access area on the engine to gearbox plate, then removed the gearbox.
Or is the torque convertor still attached to the engine.
What colour is the oil inside the torque convertor, brown = clutches are burnt, also check for metal filings in the oil inside
the convertor.
