Cleaned up the cam cover/filter and added a bit of zest. :D

Gave the bumpers good going over. :)
Stuck headlining back up,again,
Ordered new mid-box £37 for Regal branded :)
....tempted to buy a lift pump but think il cut a hatch and see what I’m dealing with first?

Found old JM post saying knock the old GB plug out and replace with one of these :

Filler plug should be a female Torx. You cannot have wrecked that?!

Checked diff fluid levels, all okay slight top up.
GB and/or transfer has slight leak - rounded GB filler plug .... stopped there :rolleyes:

Cam cover off :)

Yesterday ^^^ Must have done it up tight like a loon last time. Got good T55 bit, rounded not coming out.

Old posts state :
1) “tap out with chisel then replace with square type” - JM
2) “JB weld my torx bit in there then try” - Neilly.

I’m up for suggestions :)

Only thing I can think is Plusgas and try to tap it round with a punch.

That must've been in there hench tight. The Rovers at work use T55 on the gearbox and never had one round, and that includes when we let the gbangers give it a try.

No welder :(

It sorta twists out as you turn it, won’t stay in. Breaker bar job too tight for 1/2” ratchet

Need a replacement before smashing it out. I am good at smashing things

Had to take an appointment at the local stealership to get an oil change after the last one, done by the previous owner at an independent Land Rover "expert", resulted in the use of tue wrong oil (5Wsomething) and plug tightened too much at engine, gearbox and transfer case to be removed by myself. Also learned the hard way that independent garages in Germany are wetting their pants by the mere thought of touching british cars...

Yeah, and even the handbook says 15W40... independent expert garage my ass! We'll see what the stealership proposes... Kind of ironic that I managed everything by myself so far except painting and fail at a simple oil change!

The don't like Range rovers or disco's in France either.

Funny, isn't it? Me, an untrained amateur, can do almost everything in my driveway. And trained professionals are refusing to touch them. Best excuse I heard so far was "we don't even know if oil filters are available". It's either an opportunity or a sad situation or both, not sure yet. Good thing I gonna treat me with a brand new Evoque for the two days they keep my Classic in the workshop. No idea how poor I gonna be after that exactly, just hoping they don't kill my gearbox in the process!

Fired up the beast today.
Not been run for a while a month at least, not on the stops:). Left door open while she warmed up closed door and straight up to normal can’t complain at that. Took for a quick spin and grin factor:D:D.
She is going to be relegated to a day outside tomorrow as got to work on the 322s compressor, now I have all the parts:)

Got the old coolant hose off, new one 2/3 on! Can't for the life of me get it connected to the thermostat. Not going to get chance to look at it again until next week now

The stealer will say whatever is in the handbook, regardless of whatever may or may not be good

Well, I'll be already happy with 15W40 and plugs I can remove myself 5,000 km from now. That and hopefully an intact gearbox!
