Any ideas where the water comes from that drains down the inside of this?

It's the front door pillar that the hinges bolt to on the other side :oops:

I've got no sunroofs but I'd like to block it for a while so I can paint inside it.

I'm no familiar with discos but... windscreen rubber then runs down the pillar internally?.
A good torch,a mirror and a watering can played over select areas will usually find it.

In doing my sill at the moment - I put my fingers up the a pillar but can't feel any hose or pipe for the sunroof. Where the hell should it be?

Is it tilt and slide or just tilt sunroof? I ask as dont think tilt only has any drains?

Is tilt and slide. Near side. I assume there should be one each side in the a post?
Thanks

Long time since Ive had a D1, but my D2 had one pipe going forwards and one rearwards and iirc the little plastic stubs on the sunroof drain tray come adrift, see If I can find a pic.

Pic taken from rear showing both D2 sunroofs, circled are the Offside drain pipes, I think there was the same on the Nearside.
Extra wiring/trunking was the rear a/c

Thanks, funny thing is I've had all my head lining out to do the sunroofs and can remember it now.
What I don't understand is why I cannot find the pipe in the o/s a post?

Dont forget pic is of a D2 maybe D1 doesnt have two front pipes?

Aye Up,

I’ve recently had this problem on my D1 and spent several weeks tracking down one, then several locations each of which provided a different access point for water. No sooner did I think that I’d sorted it than water reappeared.
One of the things that I did was to ‘puff’ talcum powder on the footwell sloping footboard to highlight water tracks.

I tried to post a write up and images of each but every time I did I received a message saying that the post was too data heavy.
Here is a list of the locations and one image, I will post images in subsequent separate posts tomorrow to see if it works that way.

Unserviceable Sunroof seals - glass-to-frame and/or frame to roof;
Damaged/disconnected sunroof drainpipes (front). Pipe runs down inside of FNS A-pillar;
Junction of bottom of A pillar/inner wing/scuttle
Windscreen wiper motor housing gasket
Heater air intake gasket
The Seam running the full length of scuttle and covered with filler; looked ok but had dried and become porous
Gap between inner and outer wing local to base of A pillar
Spot weld joining scuttle to bulkhead panel. Water seeped through this, down bulkhead onto cable harness and through to top of sloping footboard.
Alpine window seals.

This image goes with the first one I posted showing how panel gap goes through into footwell

Aye Up,

Is anyone seeing the images?

I’m seeing them in the posting box and the preview but not in the thread?

When my D1 startred getting water leaks, it turned out to be a badly sealed replacement windscreen, at the top. I used professional mastic and the problem stopped.
