does anybody have any idea why my 2013 evoque sd4...73k miles has decided to make strange clunking noises from its rear end when pulling away.....once moving its fine...more noticeable from a hill start and worse turning right....it has just been MOTd so i assume its more drivetrain than suspension....could it be propshaft/rear diff?
anybody have any ideas how i can check this?

Have you contacted Mrs V Beckham at LR first. Might be the slack nuts but surely the MOT would have picked some areas.

No..I kinda ruled out handbrake cos it happens just stopping at a give way and pulling away again...more noticeable on a hill...possibly putting more weight on it's already large bum?
 
Am in the doghouse mate...got rid of a skoda superb cos I have had discos before...2 300tdis and a 3.9v8...just never had the time to sort....got a disco 2 td5...as a project...and got the spice girls evoque for the missus....ain't even looked at the disco cos the evoque giving me grief
 
Not sure but I would imagine that the drive train would be the same for commonality of parts.
Am wondering if it's possible to remove prop shaft so car is running front wheel drive...at least that might let me know if its suspension if it still makes the noise...if it stops I can assume its propshaft/diff...
 
Sounds like a Haldex issue, Freelander 2’s and Evoque’s have them. It can be very expensive so if your still in a warranty of some sort get the ball rolling.

The 4wd system comprises of a prop shaft from the front of the car, feeding into a hydraulic clutch pack and a rear differential. The computer decides how much to engage the rear axle by controlling the clutch pack. It’s supposedly a maintenance free item... The rear axle is mostly engaged when you accelerate from standing or take corners at speed (as in bends on A & B roads).

I had a Saab 95 with Haldex 4wd that went wrong, when I moved off or took sweeping corners fast it felt like driving over road studs / cats eyes. Turned out the clutch pack was failing.
 
I think it has the same diff and haldex as the FL2, my diff failed apparently its pretty common but it makes a rumbling sound when you are travelling which gets louder as the bearing gets worse.
Haldex can be serviced I've done it, you can find a kit on tbay, or a company called bell engineering do it, I've never used them but people seem to like them

Thanks for the replies guys...there is no noticeable rumble from diff...but when pulling away saying it feels like you are doing over cats eyes is a pretty accurate description..I have never noticed it making noises on cornering...and most of its miles are on twisty A and B roads...
