hi guys ,
had a 2006 rangerover sport tdv6 since last year .
all been fine until past week the car has been throwing a number of faults up !
randomly will be driving alone and 3 thing have been happening
fault on dash shows up .. 'suspension fault vehicle lean when cornering" ( goes off after restart and is fine)
at the same time central locking locks and unlockes whilst driving ,
then I get a message on cd player screen "vehicle fault system shutting down" system shuts down knocks all radio/satnav off then restarts and is ok !
today I had like a headlamp icon show up when I went to start it and it wouldn't start , turned ignition off and on a few times and it started fine ,

I checked that battery and it was ok as it was only a year old ( was a cheap battery that the other person had fitted so I change it the other day for a yuasa but the problem keeps happening every day,

had it code read and cleared the re read after the car did the same thing again so I had a fresh set of codes t work from ,

her are the many codes its showing

uo140 lost communication with body control module
u0300 internal control module software incompatibility
audio front control interface module
u0010 medium speed can communication bus
u0300 internal control module software incompatibility
u2003 fibre optic communincation bus
park assist
u0155 lost communication with instrument cluster control module
parking brake
c1a55 ignition switch imput circuit
steering angle sensor module
u0122 lost communication with vehiche dynamics module
u0010 medium speed can communication bus
u0001 high speed can communication bus
u0102 lost communication with transfer case module
u0132 lost communication with ride level control module
u0182 lost communication with front lighting control module
u0159 lost control with parking assist control module
u0184lost communication with audio unit
dynamic response module
u0155lost comminucation with instrument cluster control module
ride level control module
u0434 invalid data received from dynamic response module

im used to a discovery td5 not the rangerovers so all new to me , I was thinking maybe a bad earth somewhere ?

already have mate that's what I got back :(
Ah, I now see you actually said that,

If it were me I'd disconnect the trailer module/wiring to eliminate that.
Majority of those codes are for features that are in play when trailer modules are fitted,

ie. park assist, ride height, gearbox, stability control, brakes, fog lights etc.
Too much of a coincidence.

that's my next plan mate , the mrs has took the car today so im sat twiddling my thumbs lol , it just seems weird that its been fine even after the wiring was fitted o_O

Did you install genuine LR wiring and module pack or just what the tow bar manufacture are punting for £70?

Wow that’s a bunch of faults in 1 go.

All I can say give MyfirstL322 suggestion a try.
Have you done anything else recently?

Then as a start without spending I would be looking at connections to the various ECUs for water gunk.
Does the sport leak into the back like the RR?

Good luck at least it’s driving.

My next suggestion was how well sealed is the back of the tow bar wiring socket, those cheapo glands are not flexible enough in my book.

it was this one off ebay mate , did say it was a britpart on the listing but the one I received was a "brink"

I presumed that would eb all I needed with it being dedicated etc
Heard plenty tales of woe using anything other than Land rover modules, particularly with the L322 and L320.

So much so that I opted for the £200 LR module when I did mine, I baulked at the cost but it was ultimately less grief that some 'dedicated' aftermarket thing not functioning correctly. probably dearer now.

not done anything else that would probably link to anything like that , did the brakes but that was a while back , not noiced any leaking on it as yet , I had a freelander that used to fill up in boot and a disco 2 that had leaky sunroofs so no doubt there will be a inherited seal problem along the landy range !

its definitely looking towards the towbar wiring then isn't it , but then I did it when it was red hot last month so maybe as its been raining now it would tie into the water ingress on the socket , looks like a fault tracing sunday tomorrow !

Yes, maybe it will be obvious. The joys eh.

As I said, almost every code you have is towing related, because once you plug a trailer/van on it locks the air suspension, disables the rear park assist, disables the fog (and maybe brake lights) to the vehicle, interacts with the braking and stability, ditto the transmission and probably other things.

You have to rule it out it’s an easy 1, then next the water on connections.

Can I just ask what did you use to read your faults?

As it’s a 2006 sport, it’s basically a D3 in a posh frock, upset by any poor battery or non genuine brake bulbs and even a failing brake switch can cause all sorts of issues similar to what you have

funny you should say that, ive had a brake bulb changed in the past 2 weeks ,......

It's also worth checking the battery voltage first with the engine off, then with the engine revving at 2k rpm.
checked that mate , all was fine , battery was tested ok but as it was a crap battery that was on it I stuck a new premium one on just to make sure

It could be signs of the alternator packing up I had that on my D3 and also a new battery was faulty mine was not a year old and an Exide also when i got a new battery there were still the lights and when i got the diagnostics on it the steering angle sensor needed resetting after that all was ok.
