Anyone fitted a double Din stereo with single Din back ?

I wanted to change my radio to a double din on my D90 Td5, but came across lots of potential issues. It looks to me as if there isn't enough depth for a true double din stereo.

However, I came across the Sony XAV-AX1000 which has a double din screen, but with a single din back. I reckon this would fit into my Td5 and look quite neat. Anyone fitted one ?

Not the same head unit but he got a skinny backed double din to fit.

I’ve a Kenwood DNX8180DABS in mine. It’s a double din. Had to get a new purpose built fascia panel for it as switches had to be moved. V. expensive! (Fascia panel that is). Mine is a MY2012 truck so don’t know how that would equate to the Td5.

I did look at that and it seems a good solution, but isn't readily available now. A single DIN back with a double DIN face seems a good solution.

Thanks, I’m more than happy as it’s got everything I need, music/radio/SatNav etc and a rear camera which is a godsend.
