Good afternoon all.
The story in short is my RR P38 manual 4L clutch gave up just before I was getting on the Dover to Calais ferry! Yes, at the port. Loading sir please proceed. Any way. Symptoms are no clutch pedal, its on the floor and the car will move when started in gear so it is in a garage in Margate and I have a price for the fix. I have the clutch from Rimmer Brothers but I'm now worried in case the fly wheel is damaged. Does anyone have any advice or comments. Or does anyone have a fly wheel in case of worst case?
Thanks in advance
Couldn't do without this site

Sure it isn't just the spiral pins holding the clutch fork? Or possibly the slave cylinder?

Check the bushes where the clutch fork goes through the bell housing. They should have a Teflon coating. If worn replace them and the rubber dust seal.

The clutch slave cylinder will probably need replacing as well if it the spiral pins have sheared the the slave cylinder piston will have popped out and nipped a chunk out of the piston seal.

Humm been there done that twice, pins in the clutch fork have gone if it drives started in gear as mine did the same, when you change them double or triple roll pin the arm to shaft.

Yes, going to put a new clutch in it and I have got a new slave cylinder. I've been on to Rimmer Bros but can't seem to get hold of these fulcrum pins. Any ideas where I could get them?
Thanks guys for the help and suggestions.
Cheers

Try Island 4 x 4, Rimmers are expensive.
If you know the size, you can buy roll pins on line.

I'd go to the main dealer. They're cheap and the last thing you want is to have them fail from cheap parts. I banged a rivet stub up the centre to strengthen them.

Hi all
I have from D L S in Matlock purchased a Heavy-Duty Clutch Release Arm so I am hoping this will solve the problem . as I say any help is much appreciated

Not sure why. You'll see my pain on other threads. I think the spiral pins shearing was the first indication the bushes were worn and friction material was slipping past the dust shield. Second indication was clutch slipping at max torque in some situations which eventually became all situations shortly before i was dumped unceremoniously at the side of the road. A pop rivet shaft just fits up the inside of the spiral pins and will stop them shearing again (or a send set of pins will help) but may not address the underlying issue if the dust shield is worn or the Teflon has rubbed off the bushes.

The size of the dust shield is stamped on it.
