200tdi 90 Exhaust questions

Hi Guys,

It's time for me to replace the middle section of my exhaust as it's given up the ghost and snapped clean in half. Can anyone show me how the front mount should be? As mine is completely missing! (See attached pictures) also is there meant to be some sort of gasket between the two parts (Down pipe and middle section) or do they just squeeze together and sit flush.

The gasket in your case looks more likely to be the “olive” type, metal doughnut type from the look off that clamp/pipe, not expensive but will usually clean up and reused.

Is this the bracket you have missing?

I cant see the exhaust gaskets/olives on any parts diagram/website which is why I was questioning if they are indeed needed. Thank you for the link to the brackets, its hard to tell if thats the one I need but I will take another look underneath tomorrow! I didn't see any bracket from the gearbox so maybe thats it!

There are no olives on my 90, just pipe to pipe compression which has always seemed to work for me wether right or wrong.
I have also swapped my ctr section for a s/s straight through pipe (for a minor increase in power) and long life. A little extra noise but not excessive.

My 90 exhaust had these on the joints. Its an 89 with 200tdi Disco conversion though.

That's what I thought, especially when looking at parts diagrams and seeing none.
