Ur very welcome

Sounds really daft but are the tyres all the same size plse

Alas with it being there from the beginning it’s difficult to try and pin a noise down

Has it been to a wheel alignment centre to ensure all the wheels are balanced and a 4 x wheel alignment done

It may be the gearbox but again difficult to tell

Have u posted on the D3 as there may be someone near u that could have a look for u, I’m also pretty sure D2 wheels will fit a D3 as that may also be an option as mentioned , trying to do small things without having to put ur hand in ur pocket, along with eliminating things step by step
D2 wheels don’t fit a D3, but D3 wheels fit a D2 if you use centre spigots

Check the centre bearing on the rear prop.
Also front discs warp especially after market ones and can cause a hum, do you feel any pulsing on brake pedal when lightly braking

Thank you johnlad for your help.
My brother replaced the front discs for new but hum still there ? can the centre bearing on the rear prop shaft be tested or examined whist on car or would it have to be removed ?

It could still be one or more tyres especially if they are unknown history. Cross-ply tyres will hum, I've heard that at low speeds. Some tread patterns can hum/whine, especially if they are worn and/or geometry is off. Cheap tyres are usually noisier too

Hi Kermit_rr
The hum was there before we changed the tyres and although i had part worn put on they were at about 6mm of tread and even tread across them would have to look at the make of them tomorrow but from memory as they were fitted in February they were top speck tyres !

The centre bearing is supported in a rubber sheath, it can be checked whilst on the car, when failing the rubber splits.
Some people use sikaflex to repair it but I’d be inclined to replace the complete prop. Centre bearing can be replaced but it’s not always easy so complete prop for me.

Thank you Broke Again
I have phoned Jim at phoenix4x4 they are very busy he said and could not have it in for a few weeks i have asked him if he could contact when they can have it in .
Then we have to sort out how to get it to him as his recovery driver is in hospital at the moment with leukaemia.
But thank you Broke Again.
I will let you know what happens or hopefully maybe someone may contact me sooner from either this site or disc club sooner to have a look at it for me.
