Chap on the team with a RRS was proud as punch when he got it, it was his first new car and you've never seen someone so happy in your life. Until it got stuck in mud and I towed it out using my Escort Van. There were other vehicles in the car park which would've been less embarrassing to tow it out with, but where is the fun in that?

He has had one or two bottom clenching repair bills with it, but nothing too bad just yet. Although his airbags are getting close to the end of their shelf life, so it'll be interesting to see how much that sets him back when they finally let go.

I have some friends who invested in a RRSport and they where rediculously unreliable and expensive. so go for the Full Fat Vogue not a Sport would be my note.

regards

Not a lot good said about the RR Sport.
A bit surprised really.
Is the full sized RR, 2007/2008 likely to be any more reliable...

the later RR's are not yet known how unreliable they really are until they start getting older.

but it seems they have sorted a few issues, like the gearboxes !

Hippo - he is talking about the Sport which was launched in 2005 so a 2007 will be an early model....

For a sport I would think 2008/9 and beyond are the better models...

And Hippo is correct for the L322 - 2005/6 and beyond is the better bet

Oh right

Wasn't sure if he opted for the vogue over the sport

Don't know much about the sport other than I don't like them :p

Just to chime in on this old post (its now 2019!!)...... iv had both my 2003 L322 vogue 3.0 TD6 (BMW lump) and 2009 RRS Hawke edition 3.0 TDV6 (Ford/PSA Lion/AJ 200/207Bhp) for almost 3 years now and they are both so far pretty good..... that said I do all my own electronics and mechanical servicing and repair and have had to change several sensors, airbags, switches etc etc which would probably have put folk that aren't confident in doing these types of repairs themselves into years of debt to their local mechanic.
I make sure to service all serviceable components (gearboxes, transfer units, diffs and engines) every 5,000 miles or 3 months (which ever comes first), I know its over kill but I grew up on a farm and we ALWAYS looked after our machinery in a similar way and as the old adage goes " if you look after something then it will look after you" or I think that's how it goes :)
