Morning guys,

I've read all the threads i can find about the heater cables and have a decent understanding of how everything works now! I've managed to get my fan running again which is a winner. My last hurdle is the cable that controls then flow to windscreen/footwells. I know that it operates the little flaps behind the vents in front of your knees, but where does the cable end? Is it a lower dash off job to change it.

Cheers guys

Yes
Remove the top of the lower dash & re-river back on. You may find that there is a lot of rust. Inside is a barrel screw holding onto the cable.
Now there are 2 spring clips inside which are a pain if they fall out.

Are you sure this cable needs replacing?

Remove the lever off the cable.
See if the lever moves.
If it does you have a sticky cable.
Check flaps by gently pushing up in the foot wells. I found the bar was a bit rusty & stopped movement.

Little cheat here.. if you hold the lower flap you can drill and put a long self tapper in so you can open & close to move easier.
Good luck

Well that was a result, before work I took the levers off as they where solid, coated everything in penetrating oil and left it untill lunch. Lunch comes along and the oils done its magic all levers now free. All it took was two lunch breaks and I've gone from no heater control at all to working heaters I can control. Thanks everyone for your help.

Cheers

Chris
