So picked up another Td4 today. 2004 nice condition for price. Was sold as running rough. When cold it is lumpy and smelly. When warm I would say it is pretty much normal. Showing code P1110 boost air temp that will not clear so maybe on to it! Surprise was for 2004 it doesn't have the sensor or space in the intercooler hose, just an early type long hose like my 2002 car. Hose looks new. Has wrong hose been fitted?, Should a 2004 have a sensor here? Could this fault code be the reason all is rough when cold? Any other clues with this code?Thanks........

I think it should definitely be there for a 2004 facelift one. Yes, could be the wrong hose fitted and somebody realised wrong hose was ordered and removed the sensor to sell the car.
It's either in the MAF on early models or there on that hose.

Thanks. Just found connector hanging in the air! Right by that hose location so need the plastic sleeve and sensor. Presume ecu will use default value if not fitted? More importantly have also found vacuum pipe from reservoir to turbo solenoid is missing!!! That will make it a bit gutless I guess!! My drive back was OK and could hear turbo spooling but I think the solenoid controls the vanes?

I suspect the one which has the filter is missing, as when it does really there is just no filtering but it does get air (dirty)
Yes ecu most likely will use it's own value but fuel adaptation will be disabled IIRC. All these should be cheap fixes, plenty of land rovers for breaking on the way to scrap these days.
As for the small hose 4mm would do, can get silicone or some braided badass ones.

Get a 4mm silicone hose and some 7mm clamps (not really needed but why not) and fix it.
Or braided, it's 4mm inner at least on mine. Worth checking the egr hose as well as the other smaller that goes to the black reservoir and to the egr solenoid. For splits or absence.

Who the hell would do such a thing and why, even to remove that hose some effort is required it runs near the injectors etc.

Will do. Thanks for info. Will be checking other stuff too as the neglect / missing repair work says there will be other stuff. Crankcase filter for example!

OK so repaired vacuum pipe to turbo, it was the barbed pipe on the reservoir that had broken off and pipe dropped deep into engine bay! Then a strange thing happened. Rear window dropped for no reason, maybe low battery? And then it got stuck. Repaired and recabled regulator. So only fault remaining is puff of white smoke from cold start and slight misfire until warm. Wondering if battery low and glows not doing there bit when started? Or maybe injectors? Which test is best? Leak back or can I test leakage when engine off??

Please can you clarify a spill test? Many thanks. Do you think glow plugs would cause this fault in this weather? I will see if they are energising but I seem to remember some priority logic when battery is low to prevent them coming on and reserve power for cranking?

I.e....

Best to let all the lines fill up and into the bottles before you start taking measurements.
