This issue has come on recently. A quick search says the MAF sensor is the likely culprit but I didn't think my 2002 model had one.
Should it be on the air intake pipes like they usually are?
If it isn't that, what else might it be? (It doesn't have an EGR).
Thanks

The MAF is under the air filter top cover. If the MAF signal is low, then it will limit power output of the engine. You can test this by unplugging the MAF and driving it to see if there's an improvement. If power is restored, then the MAF signal is weak enough to trigger the anti smoke program on the EDC, hence the limited power.

If unplugging the MAF makes no difference (other than putting the MIL on), then the problem generally lies elsewhere.

The MAF sensor appear to be held in with some kind of Torx security bolts with 5 pointed stars instead of 6.
Anyone know where to get some bits like that?

I replaced the MAF sensor but this hasn't made any difference.
While on the drive with the engine running it won't rev over 2000 rpm, then it starts to misfire.
What else could it be? Turbo solenoid maybe?

Was it a new OEM One or a new cheaper one or Second hand?

how many miles on the current low press. fuel pump ?

but the car has done about 98k, so it could be as much as that.
if it is the original pump .. then it's at the final stages of its life ( i reckon )

my original factory one lasted 71k miles ..
death throws: revs hitting a brick wall at 3k rpm ..
then soon after .. next day .. brick wall at 2300 rpm ..
changed the lp pump quickly before it quit for good
replaced with an oem part
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the replacement lasted 105k miles
death throws: intermittent lack of power ..
i.e. not every journey .. some days ran great ..
then it would go limp ( no dash warning light )
turn off motor .. restart .. and all would be fine .. until next time
then one day it simply quit dead
( didn't have the rpm.brick-wall effect ..
( just slug-like behavior on trying to accelerate
Those are TS25
LE: I saw it was already removed. Check LP pump and all them small hoses for a split.
Had a go recording some live data.
Can't see anything to do with low pressure fuel pump though.
I can see:
- Throttle Position
- Coolant Temp
- DTC code generated (none)
- MAP
- RPM
- VSS (speed)
- Air temp
Do I need a LR specific reader for that?
