Evening all, I'm not a Landy owner but am on the hunt.

Currently, the main bus is a 2009 Vauxhall Ziggy which the missus tells me I'm not allowed to swap for a Fourby. I've had a look around other makes and manufacturers, but just keep coming back to the Land Rover... So I thought I'd join a forum where I can go Zombie and pick brains on all things Landy.

I've never been offroad before, but any Fourby I get will be getting muddy - that's the main reason for me wanting one.

So that's me, hi. :)

**Edit** Suppose this would be the best place for me to start my quest.

I'm a Techie, not a Mechie, but am definitely thinking I'd like to learn what I can to do servicing, repairs and regular maintenance. I like my toys, but how far does one go with that?

I've been looking around and so far have flip-flopped quite regularly. Today, though, I'm trying to work out if a Disco 2 or a Disco 3 would be better for a cheap purchase. It would be possible to get a very cheap v2, or a reasonably cheap v3. I like the look of the v3, but a v2 would potentially mean I would focus more on getting it muddy rather than admiring it on the drive. That and the initial costs of fixing whatever is wrong with the car in the first place, then strapping on a new set of AT tyres would likely come to the same as I'd be spending on initial outlay for the very pretty v3. Then: repairs and tyres.

But do I let that stop me? Open to opinions on that one.
