Hi fellow LZ people!

Long time no see been busy with trying to get landies out either trialling or racing on the odd occasion.

I have a new project I’m semi halfway down. It’s a slow project and very much on the cheap.

Want:
A base to camp when greenlaning, a base to stay when out at Weekender competitions. Strong off-road able
Trailer to carry camping equipment roof tent and tools support equipment.

I have a roof tent that is great however it renders the 90 unusable for most things. Can’t trial it too talk, can’t Greenlane it fear of ripping the tent off.

So what I need is a trailer that can be towed by my 90, hopefully put on the ifor Williams trailer with the racer behind for further afield events.

(This May prove tricky length and weight)

So here it goes I have a narrow track which will be the base. Ideally I wanted a wide track but funds and what popped up at the time means a narrow track will have to do for now.

I like what you have done with the front. Putting a tailgate in is a superb idea allowing access or transport of longer items.
Using a tub on a Sankey trailer appeals to me :) I have seen one on the bay going for £6k

I’m not wholly convinced about the tailgate yet.... I like the look however you cannot really remove it and the front needs some support. I am thinking about a landy radiator panel. Need to Measure. That way a set of LHD lamps could be in the trailer should you need to swap lamps over you have a set ready to go. Depends if I can get it to fit nicely

Collected a 109 hard top and sides this evening.

I really want to cut the sides to half height to be able to keep the roof line low as possible and keep the roof tent equal to or under the 90’s roof line when being towed. Also allows access to store in an up and over garage type garage should that ever be needed.

Another big concern is being able to put onto a a bigger trailer for transport and not be too tall to be affected by trees wind towing etc

It will look a little funny and lose valuable space but I think it will be worth it.

Was thinking of doing this also, the snag i found was that the side panels are angled, so if you cut them down the roof will be narrower than the shortened side panels. If that makes any sense....

Yea there is plenty of give and adjustment.

I’ve just fitted a 109 roof to Bros 109. Took the good and sticks off.

Placed the sides on the trailer. Latest idea is to sink the tent into the roof line. Means the tent needs to rotate 90 degrees and go off the side. We shall see. Might be better tbh

Neither really appeals. I will have 6 inch sides if I want to keep it low enough without sinking the tent into the roof.

My 90 is a wreck, I’ve got a half finished 80 series 1 CCV motor which needs attention lol

Plenty to be doing but the trailer is taking up the time at the moment. If the weather turns then i’ll be stashed away for a bit.

Still need a solution to keeping the tent low. So far thinking of sinking it into the roof and have it off one side.

What tent do you have ive not got mine yet I did think about a hard shell one but very pricey.

Good progress, starting to take shape. Like you I've been trying to think of a way to keep the tent inside the trailers so it doesn't get smashed into low branches etc while driving. It's really high when on top of the Defender. But I found that my roof tent is too wide to fit within the roof line. My latest idea that I'm working through is a sliding shelf as Kevstar said, about top of tub height. Would also keep it out of the wind when in use.

Either way, your progress is far quicker than mine so I'll get the benefit of watching you first.

Keep up the good work!

Latest idea is (depending on length) slide it down the front. if your savvy you could put twin runners so you could position it up on top either facing rearwards or sideways.

Slow progress at the moment waiting on some bits to come.

After next pay day i need to put an order for a shed load of Steel and Ali.

Maybe a turn table thal locks in position..........
