Hi everyone, I am hoping someone can shed some light on a fault I have on a 1998 (S) L series diesel Freelander.
When the engine is at idle or with some RPM on it or being driven it suffers from what could be described as an intermittent hiccup, this can be once after say 10 mins or 3 or 4 times within a matter of minutes.
What I have checked so far is the Fuel filter for air and water, Number 1 Injector lead and connector, Injector Pump Multi Pin connector there are no breaks or short circuits. There is no air in the system or any leaks.
This is a Project vehicle at the moment so is off the road.
Any help would be really appreciate.

Ha ha ha Welcome to my life.
Exactly the same problem. replaced just about everything I could, may as well have bought a new engine. Last thing I replaced was the Fuel Rail Sensor and that seems to have sorted the hiccup so far, but have noticed that there's a substantial fuel leak going on under the covers when I parked at work this morning with the diesel smell in the cab on the way in. Will have a look at it this weekend and see if it's major or my missing something when putting it back.

Update on the leak. Turns out the cheap sensor wasn't sealing against the rail properly so as it heated up and expanded so did its grip and finished by spraying the inside of the engine with diesel, went through half a tank of diesel trying to get home!! So don't be cheap with the parts is the one lesson I learned here, get a proper replacement and not one that says it does the same job.
