What have you done to your Freelander today

Gave it a wash as I'm up to Scotland on saturday taking my daughter to stay at a friends for a week and I'm straight back down, with rain forcast tomorrow thought i'd best clean the hippo and my "disklok" arrived so i've fitted that and will sleep a little easier knowing the big yellow lock is at the least putting opportunist thieves off

May I ask which version of disklok yer bought? Eye assume it's for a Freelander 2.

Cooling system flushed, new oil cooler fitted, VCU bearing and CV boot done! Still can't find the source of the now very annoying knock I've got somewhere at the front. I'm stumped.

Just did an exhaust rubber as it was fubar. But it's only back home 3 weeks scine slave cylinder went.

I bought it direct from disklok, measured the wheel at 39cm, wasn't sure about sizing as "small" goes to 39.5cm so i rang them up spoke to Sue i think who said the medium would be best as its designed to slide around part of the design to foil burglars so the medium i have ..i chose the yellow as i wanted a visual deterent as much as anything and the silver which seems to be everywhere on the net is no so easily seen from a distance.

Oh to clarify the medium fits well and Sue did a good job and the price was pretty much the same as fleabay and amazon without the worry of it being a knockoff with free delivery by courier 2 days from ordering ..and i orderded the yellow fabric storage cover too, my steering wheel is the plastic one so i didn't get the steering wheel cover thats designed to help protect actual wheel, so all in all its a big thumbs up from me ...

I don't weld but if i find someone local who will weld on the "extra triangles" that I've read suggested on here i may get that done in time, having said that it doesnt look easy to try and pry it off from the back as it sits snug as it is, perhaps with a long bar coming through the windscreen it might be possible but smashing the windscreen isn't something i think they'd want to do ..i hope

Took it for its 6 monthly WOF (MOT) today.

Saw the bloke drive it back to the carpark, so walked over to him/it.

"Right" he says, "Your" (pause) (looks at car) (confused look) (looks at worksheet) "Land Rover" (pause) (looks to next line on sheet) "Freelander".

Prick didn't even know what the car was.

Anyway, he failed it. Which I was surprised at. However, not so surprised as when he told me the only thing it failed on was this....



A 20 year old flippin Land Rover and all he can find to fail it on is a perfectly good seat belt.

Ouch, if thats a fail seat belt I'd be inclined to use a razor blade carefully and trim off all the fraying edges and take it back he'll probably say well done on putting a new belt in unless I'm missing something here ?

I have a mate who does that before his cars go for a WOF and he's told me to do it to - should have listened to him.

They will probably be wise to that when I take it back for a retest, so the parts car will be raided and if there's any fluff in future, will burn it off!

That's not a failure in the UK. It's unlikely to even get an advisory, as the belt hasn't been weakened at all.

That's why I wasn't worried about it.

I wouldn't have minded if it had been an advisory or fail it with other things to - but to fail it just on that really is pathetic.

I just filled in a Contact Us page on the NZ TA website uploading that pic and asking if it should have been a fail and why.

I got a nice page back saying....

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Currently we are experiencing high demand and we may not be able to respond within our normal time frame of three working days.

Some things are the same the world over!

Maybe the high demand is due to lots of people getting their car mot'd by your man.

I used a gas blow torch (very carefully) last time I took a car to the MOT with a frayed seat belt. It was only cosmetic but I was concerned the MOT station might fail the car because of it. After a few seconds all signs of fraying were gone. and melting the fringes will probably probably help slow down future wear.

Fitted a new driver's door latch and water shedder today. Made it hard for myself by stripping the head of one of the torx screws. . All good now, locks and unlocks with the key and remote.

Had a small brake fluid leak and pedal went spongey. The new pipe fitted by garage was only finger tight, bloody tossers.

Hmmm, ****ty quality of work from garages is a regular thing IMO. DIY where possible

Had my own issues with torx screws today. Trying to swap a seat belt over from the the parts car. The belt uses the same torx screw/bolt as the seat base uses, which I have managed to remove in the past, but I must have lost that torx bit. I was wary not to round it, but tried various 'options'. In the end, I washed my hands, applied plasters over the cuts and took the dog for a walk. I'll come back to it tomorrow.

Its the first time I've been to the parts car in a long while. On opening the very moss covered door, the inside, and seat belt, is all damp and moldy

Driving down to Kent broke down on M11 , lost power low power mode , plugged in my reader shows P0087 low fuel rail pressure and P2263 turbo performance, recovery to a petrol station , gauge shows 1/4 tank , filled up 52litres to reach full , still doesn’t start even after I’ve cleared the codes so I’m sat waiting on a mechanic from green flag
