I bought my td5 a little over a week ago and managed to loose the fob when changing the shell of the key, I've done copious amounts of research on EKA codes and my local Land Rover specialist managed to get his hands on my supposed code but when entered it's incorrect I've tried every suggested code and any that I can find in my owners info and of course my nanocom won't talk to the ecu, I'll be getting in touch with him again tomorrow to see what he suggests but I'm just wondering if I could just replace the bcu and would that allow me to use my nanocom to sync a new key fob and get the car mobile again?

Has anybody expienced something similar and figured a way around it?

Would I have to replace any other computers such as the ecu?

Or will I have to get it towed to a Land Rover dealer and get some master computer to override it all?

Hi, forget about main dealers, no tester will comunicate with a locked/immobilised BCU, get a known good BCU removed from a not immobilised vehicle and swap it then set it with nanocom, no need to replace anything else, i recommend the following procedure:
1. disconnect battery(neg. lead first)
2. swap BCUs then reconnect battery(neg. lead last)
3. connect nanocom, turn ignition on II (DONT TRY TO CRANK IT)
4. go to BCU - Utility , read and memorise the EKA code(to have it in case you miss something in the programming process)
5. go in Settings through all sections and set all the functions to suit your vehicle, you have to confirm with "write settings" at the end, program fob to work... if no fob available you have to set Alarm to "not fitted" and passive immobiliser disabled.
6. quit BCU, go into Td5 engine menu - Utility - Learn security code... after it's confirmed disconnect nanocom and you are good to go.
 
BCU are no longer available from land rover.
Do not know what used BCU availability is like in Australia but if you really get stuck search callrova,
Uk company only people who rebuild d2 BCU so if you are offered a rebuilt one it will be one of theirs.
 
Hi guys so I got a secondhand bcu and managed to go thru the settings and sync up an old fob that only has a lock button on it, soon after I synced the key the car became immobilised back at square one but this time the fob does talk to the car and I have the eka code but when I went to enter it via the door lock I noticed I wasn't getting any toots from the horn which the car hasn't done before so I'm assuming I've messed up and selected an incorrect alarm setting or something along the lines, any suggestions on how I can get this code accepted? The horn works 100% so I'm quite dumbfounded in all honesty
 
Take a paperclip or piece of wire and bridge for a second the contacts of the microswitch on the fob's PCB for unlock command and once unlocked with fob it's remobilised then you can check settings and untill you get a working fob set the alarm to "not fitted" and passive immobiliser disabed... you shouldn't have messed with a BCU without having a 100% working fob cos as it's immobilised again you can't check any settings as the comunucation is inhibited... are sure that the door lock actuator's switch is working ? the centra locking is working when you open with the key? ...cos if not that's why the EKA doesnt work

When you said "managed to loose the fob" did you mean you physically lost it? Cos if not. and it can be got hold of, there are replacement fob kits that supply you with new microswitches and batteries as well as key blanks and circuit board holders. I know cos I got hold of one of these, took the circuit board out of the key with the dodgy fob buttons, put it in the new holder but left the transducer (or whatever it is called) in the old keyfob, together with the key, so I can use the buttons on the new fob but the key in the ignition and door from the old fob. sit on same ring, no sweat. Only weird thing is that sometimes between opening the door with the fob and starting the car, it decides to re-immobilise itself, but with a push on the unlock fob button, even with the key in the ignition, it rights itself and I can start it. Just a thought for a halfway house that is a bit less fiddly than getting the key recut etc.
