Whats going on here ?? Tried different hinge bots but none of them are long enough, all right part numbers, the top ones are not to bad once pushed right in, but the bottoms have no chance of getting a bolt on them.
A ll I can think of is I have some longer bolts and could cut them once fastened up.
Or is there another way ??
Thanks

what hinges are you using and there is normally only enough thread poking through to fit a flat nut
for front doors there 2 sizes of bolt short to bulkhead long to door

Not sure if you can tell what hinge from pic, will take more tomorrow, I do have both long and short bolts, the long ones are in pics above ,but no chance of getting .A bolt on the bottom one
The short ones do fit through into bulkhead..

i meant just std hinges or other those look fairly std but you cant be any new part is actual spec
These hinges are off different defender, but they exactly the same as what was on my doors. I even bought new set of bolts today from local landy shop but they are the same, wont go through far enough.
As I said above a do have some longer bolts that are for rear doors, could I use these and just cut them to length once bolt is on ? also I have some M8 Flanged head bolts , could these be used instead of the Nylocks ??
Thanks

Thanks James, will use the longer bolts as don't need them for rears as its only a 2 door now. Just another quick one, I have ,sides and roof bolted on loosely to finally get things lined up,
ready now for Doors and Windscreen frame. What should I fit first Doors or Frame, of does it not matter, I have the seals on Frame ready too.

fit everything then move whatever needs moving to get them all to fit

Fit the windscreen frame first, as the doors may move the bulkhead if you fit the first. You will need to open the doors to put the bolts in the windscreen frame.

As for the hinge bolts. Have the doors had any repair work done? Frames replaced?

Yes had new bottoms welded in.

Everything in place now, just nipped up. Passenger door seems perfect, but can not seem to get drivers right whatever I loosen and move.
Door gaps are Exactly 34 and 3 quarter inches apart, with about 4 washers in each side of Bulkhead bolts . Not very good pics but you can see that Drivers door needs moving back a little on the top, bottoms seem OK about 5 ml but at side where it meets tub it is bigger.

you will never get them perfect, but acceptable, obviously door can be moved and bulk head lent over by by moving the support on the chassis

Ive tried another spacer in the bracket that goes to bulkhead from chassis but no better, think the last chance is to undo where it bolts on to chassis in pic and see if I can get a little movement there.
