Right you are then.

I had to get rid of the D2 I had :(:(:( due to 1 toooo many faults and reliability issues (almost didn't make it to the Part Ex)

So got a shiney second hand D4 . TDV6HSE. ex 'escort vehicle'

I do however have a couple questions .

What is the camera looking square sensory type thing in the top/middle of my windscreen above the rear view mirror. ?
How can I repair the leather seat . its started ripping @ the seam ?
How can I tell if the TV tuner is fitted (it has the multichange DVD) which is temperamental at best/?
I found some wires hanging down
what are they for ? Red/Yellow/Blue/black to a plug in connector . with an dual inline fuse?
The speaker near the fuse box that is ziptied to the wires.?

<images to be added when i can find them on the phone >>>>

If the tuner isn't fitted how/what one do i need to fit it. it has all the RSE.

and last question is the nancom the best to upgrade for faults/diagnostics/changes or should i flog that (d2td5) and get something else?

Congratulations on the new shiny family member:)

As far as questions.

Your camera sensor thing is for the auto headlights high/low beam and also the rain sensor (same as our L322)

Tv do you get the option on your screen? Don’t know where the unit is. Think they all in the back.
As for your wires and speaker do they look factory or were they extra fitted as you said “escort car” wiring for a cb radio maybe?

Anyway have fun with the gadgets.

ohhh I know there is a square block which is the rain sensor (google was my friend) the other looks exactly like a camera hence kinda confused.

the wires do come from the car . looks like they have been spliced in for fuses to spur off. ill upload the images now. has like an FM aerial attachment just smaller.

The TV no, no option, but then i had no option on the rear camera .. which I could plainly see pointing at me from the rear door handle, got a local mechanic to nose and somehow he got it working .

but he couldn't find anything on his online source to tell us anything else about it all :(

Ok so the wires do sound like an extra.

No the rear view is selected by going into “R” or on the hidden screen. So no separate option.

Mr @gstuart is the resident disco expert he will be along to help later I am sure. He likes a bit of detective work:)

Hi

Sensor box by ur rear view mirror is ur rain sensor , on the dashboard by a speaker grill ur see a black dome, that’s ur light sensor for ur headlights

Best diagnostics is a gap iid , get the Bluetooth version and works via ur iPhone or iPad , can do virtually everything ur ever need

https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/products/iidtool/

Alas they are around £420 but pay for themselves very quickly

After service is second to none. There based in Canada and will always help via email

I’ve got a D3 so I’m afraid not up to date with the radio / tuner side

Hope that’s helped a little bit

20190709_153821[1].jpg rain sensor
20190709_153835.jpg light sensor
20190709_153925.jpgthen this block behind the mirror.
20190709_153909.jpgwhich from the front is the latter image looks exactly like a camera lens

I thought the “light sensor” was actually to do with the AC and temp compensation?

J

Ah i see , know with all the toys on the D4 it’s sometimes difficult trying to distinguish between them all as there’s mods as well

As @marjon had posted a link that looks ideal to establish 100% what they are

Know there’s also an option of a camera in the rear view mirror for adaptive cruise control , also buttons on the rear view mirror that can control electric gates or electric garage doors

All I can say about the diagnostics side of things.

From what you said it seems you already have a Nanocom? If so it maybe worth adding the D4 if that’s possible.

If not then I would totally go with @gstuart with the recommendation of the IID Gap:)
Ours has already paid back it’s cost, only had to be plugged in 4/5 times in anger.

The black sensor on the dash top is indeed for the AC compensation. It measures UV light strength, so the HVAC ECU can "tweek" the settings slightly.

Many vehicles also use this sensor to control the dash light intensity, based on the outside light levels, but I'm not sure the D3/4 does this.

Better image hopefully bit directly above the air fresheners but below what I believe is the rain sensors

That's the auto control sensor array. It doesn't contain a camera, unless the vehicle is fitted with lane keep assistance/warnings.

The sensors are a duel arrays using 2 sensors for both rain and light. This system keeps the control accurate, and offers some redundancy, should a sensor fail.

Only thing is can’t see what year ur D4 is plse, thks

its a 59 plate *2010*
