Hi. I am looking to buy a Range Rover Vogue on an 18 plate. Can anyone give me some advice on the reliability of this car especially with regards to the engine and turbo which I have heard there can be issues with. TIA.

Welcome to Landyzone.

A 1yr old Landy should be reliable. I would expect low mileage, had it’s 1st service (V.important) and the niggles sorted out.
If it’s from a dealer you should be covered for any problems that arise shortly

Ask why PO sold it nearly new, was it due to issues?
Ex demo’s have been very reliable in my experience.
Check out the RR section, many helpful people there ( there will more than likely be banter, just take it on the chin)

Hope this helps :)

Welcome.
A 1yr old vehicle of any marque is most likely being bought through the Dealer, so everything should be covered, by dealer warranty, so no worries. Reliability can vary from vehicle to vehicle . It has been known for a brand new vehicle to spend a lot of it's first year in the workshop @Tigger Eeyore & Roo , can tell you about that. Or it may not see a workshop until well after it's first MoT , for anything other than basics.
Without undermining the site, or the marque, you shouldn't be visiting us before even buying a one year old vehicle. Someone looking at a one year old vehicle, any marque, should not be buying it, if they are already worried about reliability. Harsh but true!
Also we do not have a lot of one year old vehs on the site, so there is little real life experience. There are maybe a handful of members playing with a 1yr old Range Rover but not enough to give a wide review. Go read some dedicated review sites, see what places like honestjohn, etc, say.
If you buy it, come back when it breaks down, then we can try to help ;)

Hello! Sorry I hadn’t seen this before :(

Which engine are you thinking of getting?

I bought my MY18 SDV8 new on 30/9/17 and I’ve driven just short of 57,000 miles in it so far. I had one major issue with that put it off the road for 6 weeks as a result of oil leak along a cable that joins an internal engine oil sensor to the main wiring loom. The oil leak contaminated the electronics on the back of the primary turbocharger, which triggered the engine warning light.

Fault finding tends to be slow as it’s not left to the dealer to work it out. They simply email LR who talk them through the diagnosis in a very clumsy procedure that can stretch over many days. They don’t mess about when they’ve worked it out as they authorised a very costly claim straight away and even made a VERY generous offer to trade the car for a new one if I’d wanted.

It’s done nearly 30,000 miles since then without complaint.

The software for the infotainment system is forever being updated, as the software designers try and keep up with offering electronic gadgets that seem just slightly beyond their capabilities! So if your concerned that your RR will always seamlessly link to all of the apps on your iPhone - this may not be the car for you. It doesn’t bother me though as, once it’s up and running with the basics, I’m just not interested in all the geeky stuff and I just like to get on and drive it :D

Would I buy another? If they hadn’t stupidly discontinued green - yes, absolutely!

What else would you like to know?
