I have just bought a 98 p38 diesel, 118k which ran on eff knows what.
After removing tank and emptying a mix of veg, house oil, diesel ( rouge) & what smells like petrol. We reinstalled. Put fresh derv in tried it. Wouldn't start. After a load of cranking, a scoosh of easy start it ran not bad. Switched off. Went back when cold. Won't start. Same again loads of cranking a scoosh of easy start ran okay. Idles at about 950rpm though, then the revs climb to about 1200 and down again intermittently.
Hopefully the lift pump in tank is kaput and idler valve faulty. will investigate and clarify soon hopefully.

Be careful using start you bstard spray, my old car once got addicted to it and would never start without it again !

Thanks, I was told that, by my old skipper. Guna investigate pump next. No more engine heroin starrtybastard

Did you get her cheap ?

On a more serious note I'd definitely change fuel filter, especially in this cold weather the chip fat they used has probably set solid !
Also I wouldn't use my reg number if I were you, colour silver and no mot ?
What else could a scammer find out about you ?

Wasn't megabucks.
changed filter.
Was very very damp inside. Didn't get much sun where it was sitting either. Brought it home to Inverness. Dried out no problem.
No rust on tailgate had it driving on track near house.
Decent p38 for what I paid. Can't change my user name now. I have a t4, used that reg on forum too. Doh.
hopefully get it MOTD, by end of spring. If not. I'll post it on here to sell. With a list of what it needs, mainly just non working moving parts, brakes are all done. No seized calipers woo hoo. Has standard EAST fault, think it is valve block orings. Bags hold air and compressor works.
Project on hold for next few days, I herniated a disc in my back yesterday. Housebound now

Hi Kev12, will look into thar too. Have an idea it, may be the in tank lift pump we are hoping. Only thing is we have to drop out tank again to confirm it.
Took the pipe of the filter cranked it over no fuel came out. Here's hoping.
