Hi folks... I’ve just signed up to this site. I’ve used it quite a bit in the past when looking for advice on various jobs I’ve done on my disco. It’s been quite helpful.
I’m not a big talker and probably won’t post much but I thought I ought to join anyway.
I currently own my dream car which is my 2009 D3 and I’ve owned it from new. I try to do as much as I can myself when it comes to maintenance and repairs but I’m by no means an expert mechanic.
I’ve recently got into the overlanding scene and have spent a fair amount kitting it out. Just come back from a tour of the Scottish highlands which I spent the whole trip sleeping in the back.
I would also like learn how to use her capabilities off road but I’m not into extreme stuff or joining clubs, but if anyone does a bit of the old green laning I’d be interested in perhaps joining in and learning from you.
Anyway hope to hear from you all at some stage.
Regards Damon

This is me

Morning... thanks for the welcome messages.
It’s quite comfortable in the back although I do have to move the drivers seat forward a touch.
I’ve had a bit of a move around since the trip as I’ve bought a domestic compressor fridge and it’s a bit bigger than the cooler I had. But still enough room to sleep comfortably.
I have a fox wing awning on the side and I have sides for it so if it’s too hot I can sleep outside on my army cot. & I also have an oztent on the rack if needs be.
I would love a roof top tent but that would meet changing my rack as well and I can’t justify spending that kind of money as yet.
As for the midges.... not one did I see. To be fair, daytime temps didn’t rise above 9 degrees the whole trip and it snowed on and off. Night time got down to about 1degrees do I’m guessing it was to cold for them.
Personally it didn’t feel that cold and in the sun it was really warm.
Hope you all have a great day.
Cheers.

Hey Gary... I must admit I had the garage fit that as I don’t trust myself with electrics, so I just gave them the lot when I had some paint work done.
The brackets came with the light. I bought the kit from wilderness lighting. It’s wired to my main beam with an isolating switch in the car.
