Bonnet ?

Hi guys
Can anyone tell me why on series bonnets there is always a hole to the left of the frame that looks like someone has hammered a big pin punch through a small hole please

I've got two series bonnets and there isnt a hole in either. Has a PO done it to fit a lock maybe?

It’d its a “deluxe “ bonnet with a wheel mount its simply a drain hole for water.

It's the old washer pipe a p o had fitted, every 2a / 3 I've owned, seen or worked on all have had it but don't know why
