What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yesterday i drove it from the Valmart car park in Rivne (Ukraine) to the city hospital car park as i slipped over in the shopping centre and have fractures to my cheek bone and it has to be manipulated to get it back where it should be so i'm in the hospital till Monday. The only good thing about it its cheaper than staying in a hotel.I was in an abulance to the first hospital and they did an MRI and sent me to a this hospital because this one has a neurosurgical department. but i had to go back topick up the car which was a bit of an experience as i was not focusing properly.
Before this i was in Krakow (Poland) having 4 teeth implants put in so mouth was a bit sore anyway

the only problem with the car is that the drivers widow has come adrift from the runners and i havnt had a chance to get the door card off yet.
I lied abut that being the only problem as i had to strip the FIP and renew the gaskets and O rings as it was leaking.

Get yourself sorted. You do all this travelling through rough country and fall over in a shopping centre. Get better soon and good luck with your travels. ;);)
 
I actually drove it :eek: first time in a month had to swish it down to get rt of the leafs and cobwebs then loaded it up and treated it to a trip to the dump and back then shopping:(
 
The secret with aluminium is to make sure that you remove the oxide layer on the surface, it melts at a higher temperature than the aluminium , this is what causes the collapse. By the time you have the oxide melting the aluminium inside is liquid.

Cheers, I will be practicing on some scap aluminium before I try it on the engine.
 
Renewed the bonnet gas struts (they wouldn't fully support the bonnet on winter frosty mornings while checking fluids etc)

And according to a materials scientist I worked for many years ago, ally oxidizes almost as quick as you can clean it off, so don't hang about with it.
 
A bit more fettling with my wheels, finishing coat of laquer on the 1st one, colour coat finished on number 2.
Start on number 3 tomorrow. Doing the wheel nuts as well, half laquered up, other half tomorrow.
This job is taking me feckin forever, good job I'm not charging someone for it all.

Wheel nuts? What size are you aiming to finish with?
 
Seems its MOT time for a few of us...
Had it up on the ramps a couple of days ago. Changed brake fluid and bled the system. That's not a five minute job!
Also changed UJ at gearbox end of front prop shaft (you know, the one that is easy to get to because of the crossmember:(), adjusted the tracking, a bit of tidying up,
and I thought it was sorted for MOT at the end of the month.
Had a run down to Craster yesterday. A new wobble at around 60. Bugger.
Did a search on here thinking maybe I had not balanced the prop shaft properly. (I had pulled the slider apart to get some grease into it)
Much to my surprise ;) I found an argument had been goin on about whether it needed to be phased or not.
I've spent a few hours today taking it off, moving it round on the splines 90 deg, back on and goin for a test drive. 3 times!
Wammers was right! (now there's a surprise!) :DDoesn't make any difference. Then I took it off and went for a test. Still wobbling at 60. Then I remembered that because the tracking had been a bit off and front tyres were a bit scrubbed, I swapped them to the back. Back wheels can't have been as well balanced and I now think that must be the cause.:oops:
Prop shaft is back on now, off to get the balance checked tmoz... ho hum..
 
Got round to replacing the seals and gaskets on my lpg evaporator on the 4.4 v8.

The originals were so knackered I'm amazed it was still running on lpg!

Took the car out for a little spin after. She's been off the road since just after christmas as I have only really just got back into doing stuff after having my appendix out just over 6 months ago.

Felt really good to be back out driving it!
