This is of course why I designed it this way...... sibling rivalry at it's best :)

Still have a snagging list as long as my arm but we can tick the glitches off the list bit by bit. It's a fun car....

Update a year on..... quite a few "settling in" bits

First up - never quite got the Efi working perfectly, 30 year old wiring finally became a bore. So in a fit of madness dropped in Edelbrock 500 carb and Magnacore leads, and she flies!!

Managed to get a half decent balance of fuel economy and reliability and pace, and brings a grin onto the face most days :)

A few other bedding in aspects - the throttle cable took some time to get right, and snapped a couple of cheap britpart ones in the process. Back to a 300tdi one and it's (so far perfect).

Updated the dash binnacle to raptor engineering one and have commissioned these custom dials from Smiths to simplify the interior, upgraded the instrument lights to a newer 300tdi set (back lit).

Those observant of you will see two extra dials - I'm putting clock and voltage ini the centre panel with a USB charger in between them.

Hood had shrunk and faded in the Kenya sun but broadly the prototype design works really well. Now time to build the real one and currently have a couple of professional companies (like Exmore but in Kenya) quoting over here. The design where you unzip sides and tops so you can sit on the two seat bars, works amazingly well in in the bush on safari, get quite a few people stop and ask where it was bought from, perhaps my next career should be hood design!

Our wonderful Kenyan government made LED light bars illegal so had to purchase covers. Ironically if you bribe your way to work each morning the cops turn a blind eye but good honest citizens (like myself ;-)) get stopped and fined!!

So all in all, "getting there" - it's (touch wood) been a few months of vaguely reliable (for a 30 year old motor) running. I commute about 40km a day to and from work in stop start traffic, no temperature issues, starts each morning, just the fuel costs (less than the UK) to consider....
