Fitted new shoes to my hand brake but when testing, nothing happens, the expander lever moves a little but the shoes do not move at all, It all seems connected up with split pins ect, not sure if something inside at the back has come loose.
Any Ideas

If you have had it apart for cleaning a common mistake is to put the expander pistons back in the wrong way around.
Only took the two pistons out to clean, greased them and put them back in. didn't take anything out of the back, will try them in the other way tomorrow.

Where are the rollers ? seemed to be nothing else loose inside when I got pistons put. Since Ive cleaned and greased them they can move in and out by hand easily.
theres a ramp on the plunger and each piston has a slope the roller goes between the two

Would the rollers have been loose when pistons were taken out, there was a bit of crud inside so maybe there still stuck in there, or they could have dropped out and I didn't notice.

Took it off tp give it a good clean, both rollers were still in stuck to grease and dirt. The arm that comes out the back on to hand brake bit was Loose wobbling about inside, is it supposed to be like that ? what actually does it do when hand brake is applied, do the two pistons move in and out on rollers ? as Like I said before when it was still all attached nothing moved when moving arm. Will try my local landy place tomorrow they might have one in if this ones knackered

the plunger has 2 ramps as you pull it the rollers are pushed up and the slope in the pistons if the right way round increases the lift

Thanks I get it now, the arm on the plunger in mine is just loose, doesn't seem like its connected to plunger, looks very old so think I will just change whole thing.
Shame coz if it just needed a good clean and freed up I could have had it all back together and put rear prop on ready for Tub to go back on. Might be Monday now before can get one,
Thanks Again

arm is loose fit but should pull the plunger, a god clean up and a wire wheel is all most need with fresh grease

When you fit the expander, adjust up the free movement on the hand brake shoes before you fit the handbrake cable.
If the cable is fitted and adjusted first, you can end up with insufficient reserve movement on the expander.

Worked a treat took all apart give it a good clean copper slip and it works perfect.
Thought I was doing great until I went to fit Drum, at first couldn't get it on but after turning the adjuster on the left side it did go on but it is Very Tight, wont adjust anymore to slacken off to move.
Definitely done something wrong, drum wont turn.
Think I've got everything in the right place, or can anyone spot any mistakes ?
