Looking for some ATs for the Discovery 3 and I'm tempted by Geolanders or maybe the Wrangler AT Adv.

Never driven either so looking for some feedback. Thanks in advance.

From memory both have been used as original from the factory fitment to various SUVs.

Yoko's from me if only choosing between these 2, we used to have them on a Toyota Land Cruiser in Belgium, phenominal tyre for the price, they wear quite well, noise is bearable but then again BE has a lot of concrete roads so it could just be my experience LOL

Had them on my old FL1. They're good in all conditions, except thick goopy mud.
Wet tarmac grip is better than all other AT tyres I've used, with the exception of the Pirelli Scorpion ATR, which I had on my D3.
 
I had the Geolander on my defender in Oman and then for the long drive home. They did well, replaced them when I got to the UK as they started to age, but that was 3 years and 45,000 KM later.

Did ok in Oman, we got stuck in the Mongolian mud, but I think anything would have.

What were the Pirelli's like on wear nodge?
 
I bought a set of G015's for my FL2 a few weeks ago. It's 90% on road and they are great on tarmac. I took them on a good loop of the surrey green lanes last week, about 30 miles or so, loose sand, gravel, larger flint, muddy forest, etc and they did great. Didn't loose grip at any point. I have read that they don't do well in deep mud but if I think if you want something that will then you are going to compromise on-road.

Apologies for replying to a fairly old post but do you have a thread or any more pics of your trip!? I would be very interested to hear and see more if you have a blog or anything, looks absolutely awesome from your pics!
Something I'm definitely keen on doing myself in the future! :)
 
No experience of Yoko's but personally I'd keep away from the Goodyears. Had them on a RRC years ago & they became difficult to balance due to tread 'squirm' as the tyre outlet manager expressed it, reckoned they were ok for light 4x4's (ie Freelander etc) but not full-sized SUV's.
 
I have used Cooper Discoverers myself and rate them good off road, with a good long life. However they're not as good on wet tarmac as the Yokohama Geolander.
I've not had any troubles in the wet. They're fairly quiet, can't hear them over the engine, and my fuel economy is back to 28mpg.

Freelander's trash the Goodyear Wrangler, making the tread step and drone after a while.

Cooper tyres are good (I'm running them on my current FL1). However they're not as sure footed as the previously fitted Yokohama Geolander in the wet.
