I used the same repair on mine. I added my favourite Poundland epoxy resin to secure the bolts in place. It's held on tight for over 2 years now, so was well worth the couple of £ outlay.

Interested how it worked out for you. I'm looking at a panel repair behind the tailgate handle. It looks like I will need to source a new handle as the perished seal caused this (cry cry)

Cheaper again to fix it with a few spouting bolts and Pound Shop epoxy.
