Chienesium carling lookalikey switches

I wouldn't pull more than 10 amps through a 12v port. My wiring is over 30 years old, I just don't trust it Anything cheap I will test before use. I design electrical systems for a living so I know what happens when it goes wrong
You can see if something is absolute rubbish and make a call. If there is any doubt, don't use it my 90 gets little use. If it was going to be used as a daily, I would wait until I could afford the proper kit

Can't speak or comment on these switches, but I use a lot of Chinese electrical kit, professionally, and the build quality and reliability has been excellent. In fact, you'll find many so-called European kit is re-branded Chinese-manufactured, because they just can't produce it cheaper. Add to that, many on this forum come to the table with pre-conceived ideas about Chinese products, namely, they're crap and will never be up there with good old Euro kit. I could name several very popular items (gauges being one) being peddled across the Internet for Landy owners that are made in China, cost less than a tenner as a kit (delivered to the UK) and are sold locally for four times that.

Those are crap too. Had then in my 90, they do work well enough but the quality wasnt fantastic, had one switch melt (running 10 amps), they wore very quickly and where a bitc h to wire up. Never did get the red slit to light up on half of them!

Considering Carlings are what £1.50 or so more id go with the proper job.

Thanks for all the replies, and I have no reason to doubt anyone's opinion but it just goes to show how people's opinions do differ. It's like looking at customer feedback on any item, there's those who couldn't fault an item and those who were disappointed with it. You pays your money and takes your choice, but is paying more necessarily an indication of quality?

Fair point. Though considering the majority are clones of carlings. Id stick with the real deal

I bought around 15-20 of the “cheap Chinese Carlings”, admittedly it was a few years back, but I haven’t had an issue with any of them. They are all switching control relays instead of main current, so probably milliamperes instead of amps. I haven’t had an issue with any of them, apart from not doing the colour combination I would like. Recently I have purchased around 10-12 from RS Components, this is more due to the cost of the cheapos being around £3-4 each now, instead of the £2 each I paid originally. Other than the feel quality of the rocker, the naked eye can’t really tell a difference between the two. I haven’t replace the cheapos with the real deal yet, but when I do it won’t be down to reliability issues.

I'm having trouble getting the correct signage for all my wants, from one brand. Would sooner get a make that came with stickers.

I used some form of cleaner to remove the legends from mine. They didn’t say what I wanted them to, so removed. I wanted to put stickers on, but couldn’t justify the £12 MUD want for a few pieces of printed plastic.

Edit: I think it may have been surgical spirits.
