Slightly random question. I've been offered a stainless steel exhaust back box from a 2.0Di engined FL1 but mine is a TD4. It looks like it should fit but I don't want to take the exhaust apart only to find it doesn't.

Any words of comfort/advice before I get the big hammers out?

I'm sure the pipe sizes are different.
I did wonder, they do look subtly different. I'll pass on that then. The underlying problem is that the existing back box fouls the towbar I'm trying to fit. It sits maybe 1/2 an inch too far to the rear of the car. It's also one of those mahoosive boxes. I'll take it off and see if it will move forward. Annoying as it's a genuine LR towbar.

There should be about an inch of clearance between the standard back box and a genuine (Witter) tow bar. It's possible that your box has been struck at some point, which has distorted the pipe.
I fitted a stainless slim straight through box to mine, similar to the one sold by Muddy Mods.
