What did you do with your Range Rover today

Sorry Viton seal - should last a lot longer. Apparently.

Today's saga is that the DTI kit - for P38's! Well it isn't quite. Comes with 2 needles inside. Sizes 2 big & 2 small. If the adapter tubes were slightly longer then said long needle wouldn't be too big - it would fit. What this means is that if I try to push the DTI into the tube to seat properly it won't go in because 2 long needle is too long, by about 5 mm but could be a bit longer. Angle grinder time....

The adaptor i have has a short and long pin it works perfectly. But i suppose it could depend on DTI being used.

Hope you ground it down to 0.01mm accuracy  shouldn’t matter once it’s zeroed
Different sets, with the right one should be about 1” travel with it in DTI

Thank you - I'll watch that shortly. Time to see who's going to be EPL Champions! I've run out of day now so TT back down South again. Clutches are not nice in our crappy motorway traffic these days.

UJ (not cv, silly me) is out. Factor will ring around tomorrow morning for me. Luckily my mate can run me to work for few days if needed.

Saved on buying 15mm spanner or stc££££ lol. Even without my blocks for ramps can get under here comfortably enough :)
Two bearings on the shaft seemed fine but in actuality were badly tracked

Two in the diff connection were bad, one in particular like an egg. I’m glad I did not put this job off any longer (mukiwa). It is a GKN unit

Yes, it is worse than it looks in the photo
Beware slight rumbles....

Gearbox on etc but stalled by effing transfer box. The rear seal Ashcrofts put on the refurbed box had no spring. Couldn't find it anywhere. So, duff seal replaced. Unfortunately they'd also used green Loctite everywhere and I ended up bending 2 prop shaft bolts getting the f*cker apart. So now have to wait for new bolts.

i cant think of why loctite especially green is needed on a bw

@Bix - I did same, then realised once I had it my vehicles not oxford blue
.....well it kinda is now :D
I'd have hated it if I had the wrong colour match, instead I hate it because the paint shop left a little orange peel in places, and the bonnet now looks so shiny and new the rest of the ol' girl looks even worse than I did before... guess I should save for a full respray.

Colour grew on me over time. Gives it a bit of character. my bonnet and one wing came off a much newer one that must have been waxed every week as the water beads up on them ; making rest looks shabby. It’s more noticeable than the actual colour difference  most people don’t notice though

Just get out and get some mud on it :)

Pics pics pics :)

Fuseboard tends to go bad on underside, but unless there is a problem I wouldn’t potch
It's already back together and plugged in so not easy to get useful pics
There's no current problem, excuse the pun! Thought it was a worthwhile task. The board didn't seem to want to come out easily and didn't want to risk cracking it

What the hell are you on about 0.01 accuracy? The bloke in the video does not have much of a clue. Him mentioning 90 mm was a good indication. It's about time people who do not know what they are doing or talking about were banned from Youtube. The idiot changing the ball joints was a prime example.
