Supapete on Anglesey has a nanocom but it's for a thor. If you are prepared to buy the license for the doozle, he might be able to help.
If you plan to keep the car any length of time, I'd be inclined to invest in nanocom as it will pay for itself very quickly and get you out of some sticky spots!
Hi I do plan on keeping it for a long time, unless I win the lottery lol I have looked on the nanocom website and they seam to be about £446 ish so if I can get one without the wife finding out watch this space lol

You'll probably save that amount in a year or less! And much less stress to boot.

Thank you I have the RAVE manual and its very helpful,

I know but if your not married you wouldn't understand lol. but that scanner is the absolute best for my p38?

For the price, yes. Others are available such as Lynx and Hawkeye although maybe not as comprehensive. Faultmate does more but costs silly money so most of us end up with a Nanocom.

I am married, and I do understand, however, you either hide the purchase and hope for the best, sell the purchase to her as a money saving device (more shoes/clothes for you darling) or you accept that she'll make you sell your p38 on its 4th money pit garage visit!

And yes, bang for buck, nanocom is the best. The extras you will get on faultmate are not really necessary for the average user.
Nanocom is small so can be kept in the vehicle at all times.

Pipes could be delaminating under load or even just loose. Intercoolers probably bogged. Map pipe is favourite to come off, all sh***d up with EGR probably bit depends on condition.

What mileage is it? I like pics (especially muddy oily engines).

For £350 - you drove it home you’ve done okay. For money you may want to get it plugged in to a nanocom, cleared and read particularly with auto first as last.
Hi thanks for the info my mechanic has got a lad who's got the nanocom so hopefully will know more then iam just about to have a look around all the pipes and take them off and inspect them

You do know that you fill the gearbox with the engine running and after moving through the gears?
If the gearbox oil was that low, it suggests neglect so you need to check the transfer box and diff oil condition and levels.
Throttle response is unusual, all the action comes in the last 25% of pedal movement which fools some into thinking there is no power.

Thanks I'll definitely get it scanned and see if it comes out with anything, it's done 137000 and the engine isn't to oily lol it sounds sweet as a nut I think it's had an egr delete as well. But iam definitely taking it to get a new filter and oil in the box

If anyone's had a jetwash in that they might have f*cked number 4 injector. Ask @tomcat59alan what happens when you wash #4!
Hi I saw that thread but it looks like it's only been wiped over as the rest of the engine bay is quite dusty. I took the intercooler piping off and was just a bit oily nothing untowards, iam still in two minds to get the scanner but our local mechanic has got someone coming next Tuesday to check it
