Hi all, I am a window tinting specialist and have had a customer request I source panoramic glass (commonly marketed as masai panoramic) for a upcoming job.
In trying to circumvent paying out normal retail costs by the recognised retailers I thought I'd ask the Land Rover community where is best to source from?
Does anyone have any experience of sourcing the glass from direct from manufacturers or even know of firms custom cutting to order?
Any advice is very much appreciated, great site btw.

Cheers - Ed

Admittedly I'm not a owner but am representing the desires of an owner, the reason I have asked for forum input is to save my customer any extra expense, not to further my business interests.....
I specialize in challenging high end tint installs, any defender owner who has tried to arrange a tint install will no doubt have found very few installers willing to do defenders especially finished to high standard....
I may not be a owner but I'm not doing any harm

Really!...so your doing the work for zero profit?...we prefer on here that as a new member once YOUV'E found the source of a product you share it with others who might benifit from it...

I hope your not all this friendly......
No of course I'm not doing the work for free, my profit comes from fitting and other areas of the job.... I am trying to source parts cost effectively for my customer, exactly as I stated in the initial thread.... And yes of course if I manage to secure a good deal then it does me no harm to share the information

These are the owners of the original product. Not sure if anyone has started to rip them off yet.

To the best of my knowledge Dave at Vehicle Glazing Specialist formerly Landy glass was the first to do panoramic glass for Defenders. Masai was very much johnny come lately to the Defender panoramic glass business. If I remember correctly Dave has been fitting vehicle glass for over 30 years. He has fitted his glass to one of our vehicles.

What I find rather odd is that someone who does tinting is not familiar with vehicle glass manufacturers. Approaching a vehicle glass manufacturer for glass for one vehicle is probably going to get a resounding, "how many vehicles do you want glass for" ROFL . A knowledgeable vehicle tint distributor should surely have contacts in the vehicle glass industry? Pilkington are the vehicle glass manufacturer for Defender glass

Someone like Dave at VGS might give a bit of discount as a courtesy to another business. Normally trade discount is for repeat purchasers of multiple units. Carriage on one set of vehicle glass is not likely to be cheap due to the weight, size and nature of the glass.
