I'm thinking of doing this but wanted to know if anyone has already done this, has an opinion or indeed knows anyone who has done this.
To add to this i was considering the Stage2 cylinder head upgrade, however in Switzerland the maximum power upgrade allowed is only 20% so with only 56BHP and the combination of head and carb would ass 15BHP i am already in a dodgy situation when i next get an MOT here ...

Do they dyno them? If not how would they know? The stock BHP claim was probably bogus anyway and certainly not done to today's SAE Net or DIN standards, so if you did put the engine on an engine dyno and rated it to a modern standard you'd likely get a much lower number.

I ran an SU on mine, never quite got the fueling right, think it needed a different needle.

No they do not put it on a Dyno but they do have to do an emergency stop test in that they drive it on a track to 60kmh and apply the brakes ... so i can imagine that if they have any experience in LR's they would realise it's better than i should be ... and then if they suspect a mod .. all hell breaks loose.

Re the jetting, ACR say they will fit the correct jet depending on model and your location ( so i need a richer mixture as i am up the Alps

lol, just stick a wedge of rubber on the back of the throttle pedal come test time, to stop them get wide open throttle :D

Had an SU set up with high compression head on my 2a and it went well on the road but did not run well when at angles off road so went back to carb.
Doubt very much if it would give more than 15bhp extra.

SU's do not like being at an angle. Last time I was in Switezerland it seemed most of it was at an angle! Re power, if it was a problem could you make a restrictor plate for test time?
