Suspension fault after ride height sensor fitted

Hi guys,this is my first post on here and really need your knowledge.
I own a RR sport 2.7 tdv6 2006 model.
I had a fault show up on my 4x4 screen showing the right rear sensor was bad.If car sat in driveway suspension worked no problem,raise and lowering.when I drive off amber warning light came on and “normal height only” on dash.
Now I replaced sensor hoping to solve issue but now it still shows bad on screen with amber light and if I go onto motorway and go over 30 mph I get red light and suspension goes really low and bouncy with the “ maximum speed 30mph” warning.
The car then shows it trying to raise but message comes up that it will raise when cooled.It was fitted with a new compressor from LR about 2/3 years ago.I can only drive on motorway for app 1 mile before I have to pull in and switch off to reset.
Could it be a faulty sensor or control module gone bad?...

Sounds like you have more than one problem. Could be something simple - split or pinhole in a line/airbag or dodgy connector could cause the pump to run more than its supposed to and overheat I’d try that first.

Did you fit the new sensor exactly as specified in rave?
The best option for your situation is probably EAS diagnostics if it’s not something simple as above.
May need it to calibrate your sensor?

Sports are not my thing I’m afraid, I’m sure there’s plenty in search bar.

Fairly certain you need to calibrate suspension with diagnostics after fitting a new sensor or even just unplugging one. Did you disconnect the battery when you changed it?

Thanks for the reply,yes these problems are never easy to work out so I’ve gave it to my local garage who does specialise in Landrovers.
Guy thinks it might be a break in the harness somewhere.
I asked him about how he fits height sensors and he said takes it off and replaces then clears codes so he is going to try calibration to see if that works.

Yes read that about disconnecting battery after I done itso hoping it’s just needing the calibration done.
I’ll post the results when I get it back.

Hi

Indeed when u remove and fit a new height sensor the suspension needs re calibrating

Also get them to check ur air compressor / fittings for any air leaks whilst up on the ramps and re check ur steering wheel angle sensor to ensure that’s at zero with the steering wheel in the central position

If u just wish to unplug a height sensor the battery should always be removed before hand as ur suspension will move

No probs plus there’s always plenty of us here if u get stuck

As a side note having ur own diagnostics is so helpful these days seeing these vehicles are complicated

Welcome to the forum

So got word back from garage. They calibrated suspension because it was an aftermarket sensor but they are saying the 2 year old amk pump is raising too slow so new one needed also advised to get a tank aswell.
Having just spent nearly £3000 on it with new turbo,ear valves and new belts I think I’m going to cut my losses as another £600 + has sent me over the edge

Hmmm, hard choice.

Do you spend bit more on the one you know has good turbo, belts etc or get something else with new problems? Always a gamble.

Persistent EAS problems nearly got my RR scrapped. I made a drastic decision that saved her, but does make you ‘unpopular’ if you get what I mean?
Won’t be much cheaper though, and that’s if you do it yourself
