Hi all . .

Im looking for a roof rack for my 110

I had a basket type rack, which was for a 90, on the landy when I bought it , it marked the gutters so I have just repainted the roof, not sure that I wanted to put it bk on ..

now Im looking at different racks , I doubt that I will fit a roof tent as we have very good all season ground tents ..

The things that im likely to carry, will be stuff for our winter climbing trips , waffle boards , maybe the odd surfboard , wake boards .. maybe snowboards ... ( lol not all at the same time ) , maybe some camping gear , ..... etc that kinda stuff ..

from what I have seen everything that's worth buying ,is expensive ..

so in peoples opinions what looks good , whats most practical , whats best value for money ..

Cheers guys any info will be appreciated ..

Surf boards and wake boards on a winter climbing trip?...

Flatdog do T Slot roof bars (same as their Exped Racks) for about £65 each. You could put a small (cheap?) basket rack forward for your camping gear and put boards and stuff on roof bars to the rear. A set of four would let you carry your boards for a fraction of the cost of a rack.

yeah that's interesting , I will have a look ..

I was looking at racks last night , and the G4 style looks good ...

You can just about see the current rack before I took it off ..

Think I’d struggle to put surfboards on there

I like the old fashioned glav cage racks. I have a brownchurch fitted to mine. They may not be as stylish as the flat ali racks but I have never been in a situation where it hasn't done the job. Plus by the sounds of it you already have one.
In what way did it mark the gutters? It may be worth looking at rectifying this problem rather than replacing it. Mine does not mark the gutters but I have a rubber "gasket" under the feet of the rack and the clamp to protect the roof.

I posted a pic above ..

it seemed like it had been on there for years , it didnt have any rubber feet , but also it looked like the previous owner had misjudged it at some stage , and hit something ..

The one I have for most should do the job , but its a 90 rack , and would be awkward to carry surfboards ..

I saw that after I posted, I do not surf so I cannot be sure but wouldn't even a 110 roof rack be too short for surf boards and therefore be strapped to the top rather than the bottom. If so, and you are not happy with that the only options are either bars or a very expensive flat rack.

Cut the front off the cage, I did it to mine for some long ladders.
