Mmmmm, putting the timing belt back on and one bolt requires 350Nm....... what does one do?

Yeah, I took the belt off but didn't remove the pulley. The oil seal turned up and I tried to remove it with my home made puller.
It's pi55ed me off no end today so I am sulking o_O

Does the timing kit not have holes in the puller plate that line up with the bolt holes in the pulley?
Cheers

They do but they are M8 and the pulley is M5. So I knocked up a plate and used studding to pull it.
I then tried to use the proper one and the crank moved because I had no belt holding it.....
Cleaned and put away all my tools, went in and here we are!

I went searching for an old puller I made in the 80's. It was to remove the primary drive gear from an 'A' series engine.

It worked a treat!

Here we are thinks I, ahead of the game. Engine should be running today......
No chance, after fitting what I thought was the correct oil seal, I find I have just fitted the outer seal instead of the inner seal :(
I even went genuine!!
I have now ordered both seals, to be here Wednesday. It's cutting it all a bit fine
I shall continue refurbing everything else and hopefully I will be ready for the weekends mud :D

Have to love these, "just popping out to change the timing belt, will be back in a few hours! " kind of jobs...LOL.
Still , sounds and looks like you are having fun, in a landy owner masochistic kind of way.

Cheers

I disconnected the MAF for a bit @Brown and she is running a lot better, so thank you for the tip :)
If you're getting a new one it's probably worth avoiding the really cheap Ebay specials and going for an expensive branded one - Siemens VDO seem to be reasonably well thought of, for example.

Glad to hear there's some improvement.
