Good quality stainless Jubilee clips all the way, not those horrible spring clips, evil bastards they are..

I bought one of those spring clip depressors off the net for about £7. No more damaged fingers!
@1988smithy you need a proper cv boot clip for that, a wide cable tie will do for temporary measure.
Whilst the spring type are a PITA to use esp access sometimes, they are supposed to provide a better seal than jubilee clips as they keep a constant tension

I'll see if I can pick one up before it goes back in the car then. If I can't get one readily I'll have to use a quality jubilee and monitor it. Cheers

Put it round the boot, with a pair of pliers give it a squeee together, job done
They keep constant tension
and are easy to replace if necessary.

the spring clips were designed to apply even pressure to the pipe all round. A"jubilee" clip isnt even circular

I find good quality jubilee clips are circular the cheap ones are oval crap.

how can they be circular when they have a band at 90 degrees to the main band. it creates a high pressure point on the pipe

Maybe so maybe not, never seen a hose blow/leak becuase of a jubilee clip, usually such an insident is accompanied by age and rubber degeneration....

No.
But jubillee clip fitting is childs play, if certain people lack the ability to fit the correct sized ones, then maybe they need to be relagated to doing fack all to cars

As well as their familiar clamps, Mikalor also make "jubilee" clips. Far better than a standard clip IMHO and can be tightened to about 7NM without the screw thread slipping. I could not get a jubilee clip tight enough to keep a silicone intake hose clamped to the thin, recessed pipe on the turbo intake and it was too narrow for a Mikalor clamp. A Mikalor ASFA "jubilee" clip has been perfect. They even make them in titanium or in constant tension varieties.
