Hello, I'm new to this forum. I have a '65' plate Evoque for which I have bought extended warranty. I'm in the last few months of PCP finance.

Not for the first time, the dashboard computer is incorrectly telling me the car is due for a service (it currently says in 1800 miles). In fact the car isn't due another service for 8 months or after another 20,000 miles.

My local dealership says they'll take a look and reset it (they did this less than 6 months ago). However they warn that they may decide the fault is not covered by warranty, and they'd charge an hourly diagnostic fee (expensive) whether or not I go ahead with a repair that is not covered by warranty.

It may be that the fault can be fixed under warranty, but I'm reluctant to take the car to them with effectively a blank cheque. So my question is: Has anyone else had the 'service due' notification fault, and would I be safe simply to ignore it (what would happen after I covered the 1800 miles)?

Many thanks for any advice.

How many miles per month and how many months left on PCP?

Wait and chop it in with the light extinguished.

I'm due to have the car till November, doing maybe 1500 miles a month till then.
I may just see what happens after I drive the 1800 miles till the false service due date.

So 9000ish miles.

In all honesty those extended warranties are not worth the paper they're printed on as the get out clauses are "nominal wear and tear" and bingo, job done.

Yes, I took the view that extending the warranty may offer protection in the event of a serious issue. But I've done it now.

If anyone has had the service due notification fault, I'd be pleased to hear how it was resolved.

Thanks.

It has a problem with oil dilution, I think it has a software patch and oil and filter change as part of fix, there was suggestion of a lot of there ingenue engines needing a recall, but this has gone eerily quiet of late

Thanks, that's interesting.

They mentioned a possible need to change the oil filter, adding that they may decide it's not covered by the warranty if it was caused by my driving style!

You can imagine my response to that.

Helpful information, though, suggesting it's not a problem unique to my car. Thank you.
