Flashing red warning light

Have a warning light in the centre of the dash that flashes with a 9 times bleep when opening the drivers door having just unlocked it. The light is shown on dash photos but there is no reference to it anywhere!!!

Is it a very small bulb and after you lock the car does it flash very fast then slow down to a flash a second?
Does it beep as well?

If its just a little round LED/bulb then that's the alarm/immobiliser light. Usually blinks when the alarm is on and goes out when unlocked. Think it blinks fast when the battery is low and will go solid on when the car is imobilised for any reason. That may not be the whole story - or indeed may be the wrong story - it may be dependent on year of car as well.

What ever, change the battery and see if it goes away!

You may need to syncronise the fob when changing the battery. Details will probably be in the hand book.

Thank you both for responding so quickly. Yes it is that light. Both the battery & alternator have been renewed, perhaps a couple of years ago, so i'll try to find out when & take it from there. In the meantime i'll charge the battery & see what happens.

I think they mean fob battery.

Spot-on, it's the keyfob battery.

The key fob battery is low, not the vehicle battery.

Recharging a lithium button cell is extremely dangerous, as they're not vented. This will cause them to explode, should they become pressurised/ in the recharging process. For the few pence a new 2032 button cell costs, just replace it and don't risk losing an eye, or worse.

I have never had one do that plus I alway use safety specs but that's up to the individual

Had it happen a few times, or rather made it happen when messing about at a place I worked years ago - along with fitting capacitors along the terminals on TC/voltage soldering irons stations - they go with quite a bang when your colleague turns their iron back on haha.
