Disco 2 Fitting new R380

Morning All

I'll be having the new gearbox fitted to my Disco in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if the garage that does the work for me are likely to need any extra bits and peices, or is it a case of just taking off the current box and replacing it with the new one?

I appreciate it's not as simple as this, but as I'll be away on holiday at the same time, I don't want to find out that they can't do the work in time because they need some extra bits which weren't supplied with the new box.

It's also worth having the clutch replaced at the same time.

Transfer box will need a new input seal.

Depending on what breaks expect some sundry costs too, cross member bolts often shear.

Oil will be needed for the R380 & xfer box (it will need draining before it's dropped).

Worth checking with them what they intend to do and if it's all covered in a set charge or the cost will scale...

It had a new valeo clutch and DM flyweheel fitted less than 10k mile ago, so I'm not worried about that. It's more the little things.
I've got the oil already

Maybe new rubber mounts would be a good move too if you have already digged deep in your pocket then at least you have a fresh start

Clutch forks used to be a problem and wear through on the Defenders was this cured by D2 production or do they still need looking at / replacing?

They're cast forks on the D2 so are pretty much bullet proof. The slave push rod and the plastic cup it sits into on the fork do wear out though.

I have also changed the clutch release bearing and the main shaft seal,
if you have not changed the oil bolt or you have bad sump gasket it is much easier to do when the box is off.
