Defender td5 brake vaccum pipes

I blanked the egr a while ago on my td5 and plugged the brake pipe all was well until just now the brakes went completely spongy and i noticed two other hoses hanging disconnected with the plastic bit snapped in one of them
I was wandering if i could remove the whole setup and replace the t piece where the pipe comes out of with a straight piece

Thanks will try and remove that t piece now

So i cut the small vaccum pipe exiting the large pipe and stuffed a rivet to seal it is very tight fit and went on to remove the black box and rest of pipes to clear the mess and took for a test run and the brakes still went to the floor but not as often

The vacuum is for the servo assistance so if there is a vacuum leak the brake pedal would be stiffer not go down IMO, if the pedal goes down it means there is a problem on the hydraulic side(failed master cylinder or a brake fluid leak somewhere)

It doesn't feel like a leak as its perfectly normal then goes flop to the floor

IMO as long as it goes to the floor the issue is on the hydraulic side, maybe you need a new cylinder then or try to bleed it first... there are strange cases when the fluid doesnt drop in the reservoir while a pipe is leaking, happened to me.

Same as bleeding the brakes on anything else bud, easy peasy! Especially so if you get an eazy bleed kit, you can inflate a spare tyre to a low psi, then attach that to your bottle of brake fluid, it pushes it through nicely, no fannying around pressing the brake pedal etc etc
