Number Plates

I've fitted a new bumper & winch. Now I have the number plate fitted under the winch. Daft place to put it. Question is: who knows of anyone who supplies numbers & letters that I can put on bonnet front in the north east area? I've been told that these are now illegal. Right or wrong? Could go to B & Q or others and stick them on mesell. Any advice? Thank you.

number plates havve to conform to certain sizes, have to be the BS AU??? have the makes post code on them, have characters of only a few approved tpefaces and sizes and placed at the correct positions.

otherwise the cops can (and will) stop or do ya.

Speak to Halfrauds...they can show you the range of sizes/backings available...

V5c and driving license/Passport.

any little spares shop such as a1 motorstores theres a few round our way that sell the numbers and backing sticker plates but to get round the illegal technicality they tell me theres nothing to stop you going in one day and buying the plate backing and the word letters aslong as you dont buy the numbers aswell but theres nothing to stop you going in the next day and buying the numbers it covers the shops back incase it gets queried on their receipt books atleast thats how i do the plates for me trailers

Yup, can still buy the stick on type plates round here, but they are not sold/described as number plates. There sold as "signs" same refelctive backing, numbers & letters through, and of course they were on the car before the latest regs applied

as long as the backing strip can reflect light jobs a good un the rules dont apply to most trailers as the reg on the towing vehicle is usualy visible either round or above the trailer also if the towing vehicles lights are visible all you need on the trailer is 2 triangle reflectors to show the trailer is there
