build quality is getting really bad all around unless you pay really top money these days.
Have had volvo240 estate which was sold with 240000m on the clock and still going strong. still got a volvo850 t5 with 208000 on it only had to change the power steering pump in 5 years ownership (its for transporting the dogs around). recently bought a volvoxc90 to tow the camping stuff to italy (didnt trust the P38 to behave for that distance) the idea being i would keep it and sell the P38 when we got back if i liked it.
ended up selling the volvo, build quality was appaling, cheap plastic everywhere, noisy not at all what i expected from a maker i held in such esteem.

The XC90 is a Ford:(

Landrovers have their problems.... their saving grace is parts availability (as they are ALWAYS needed) and ease of repairs, I love landrovers but my 4.2 1992 land cruiser is by far a more superior vehicle with regards reliability, just clocked 376,859mls on the original engine, the gear box is just starting to be problematic but hey..... with those miles im impressed :)
